hot water and mild cleanser, shampoo. put them in a cup and let them soak then rinse, rinse, rinse. repeat washing and rinsing until the water runs clear from your brushes. then you can lay them flat on a towel to air dry, over a vent, etc. if you aren't convinced by the at home wash solution, MAC has a brush cleaning solution that you can buy, about $15 wherever MAC is sold. good luck and have fun with your beauty brushes ;)What is the correct way to clean make-up brushes?
if you are going for drug store avalibiltiy mild baby shampoo works, and its really cheap. If your willing to spend about 9.00 Mac cosmetics makes a gentle brush cleaner that works great. For either type, mix one part cleaner three parts water. also soak and rinse in cold water.
I was a manager for Christian Dior and the way we cleaned the brushes are with hot water and soap. Dry the brushes upside down too.
I've already read to wash them with a mild shampoo and rinse well. This should be done every 3 months.
Well the body shop should have it but i would use some make up brush cleaner or you could use some soft soap. If the body shop does not have it Mac does!!!! I luv Mac!!!
i use a cotton ball or the back of my hand to wipe down the excess like on the eye shadow brushes...then i use hot water and rub a bit of hand soap in between my thumb and index finger and give it a gentle rub until the original color of the brush shines through.
A Mac makeup artist told me to use shampoo.

I use a gentle baby shampoo and warm water. Lay them on a folded lint free towel to air dry. Be sure not to ruffle the bristles or they may come out.

first of all, what do you mean when you say nice brushes? are they synthetic hair or natural? Natural hair brushes are the best for your skin and if taken care of properly they will last a very long time. Honestly you should clean your brushes after every use. When I say clean I don't mean shampoo. Trish Mc Evoy has a brush cleaner that I use in my kit. You spray it on a kleenex and wipe off your brushes...your brushes don't really get wet so you can use them again immediately. As far as shampooing your brushes, I would reccommend doing that about once every 2 weeks depending on how much use they are getting. Trish Mc Evoy also makes a brush bath that you mix with water. When it comes to drying your brushes...always let them air dry. Any intense heat can burn the hairs and ruin your brushes. Hope this helps.
the best thing to do is use a brush cleaner or baby wash (not baby shampoo, it will just dry it out...it is detergent). i like macs cleaner diluted and then i spray and blot the brushes in til clean.
To dry lay them on their SIDE, so no water runs down into the handles and the glue...it will ruin it. never let water or soap reach down into the metal part.
i would use just warm water and a mild face cleanser like Cetaphil, and then place them on top of a towel to air dry.
you can wash them in the sink with warm water and a mild shampoo. i works just the same as brush cleaners for about half the price.
