Best face make up brushes ?

What, and who make the best makeup brushes ? Esp foundation brushes. I've heard MAC are good. I use one already but i think i can find better. Also anyone got any tips for a flawless application ? Thanks xxBest face make up brushes ?
there are a few brushes every woman should have: concealer, powder, blush, flat shadow, and eye crease/contour. these are essential to a basic face, and some can double usage.

if price is an issue, try palladio brushes from sally beauty supply. they are $7-17 each, and last forever. i have a flat shadow brush from this line that has never lost a bristle.

for a starter set, check out mac. they have their mini brushes in sets for the holidays, so you get 4-5 for $30-35. mark by avon also has a mini set they sell all year long that is $19 for concealer, lip, eyeliner, shadow, and blush. and merle norman stores have full-size sets out of 5 of their most popular brushes and a brush cleaner for $29.

stila at sephora has nice brushes. some of them are dual-ended, so you get more for your money. they have a nice eye duo brush for $30, with a dense contour and smudger.

for foundation brushes, i actually have one from avon that has done well for years now. lancome has a great one, but it is pricey.

for flawless foundation, make sure to start with a primer. smashbox photofinish wins awards all of the time from beauty magazines and websites, and it really lives up to the hype. goes on easily, wears all day, and never broke me out. $32 at sephora. my second fave is tarte clean slate, $27 at sephora.Best face make up brushes ?
You can find better than Mac brushes but you will pay for the privelge with possibly little return for your investment.

Laura Mercier brushes are great but very expensive.

Mac are good too. I use their brush cleaner every month and they have a really good variety for any purpose. Plus if you can catch someone (shops are often a bit frantic) they give great advice about applying make up.

The Body Shop are ethical and at the cheaper end of things.

Whatever if you start investing in brushes and have a range of them at your disposal you cannot go wrong.
I prefer Bare Minerals for both brushes and makeup. They have a kickin travel brush, I use it every day. The Kabuki brush is great for the mineral veil. Flawless application, take your time, alway go up and out, use a large brush to go over it at the finish to blend any areas that you didn't get well, and use good lighting.
Bobbie Brown or Sephora house brand. Both excellent.

For a flawless finish, use a primer.
i would say sephora !!!
My favorite foundation brush is from Chanel. I have had it for about 2 years and wash it with philosophy facial cleanser after every use. It is still in great shape and well worth the money. I usually wear Smashbox primer under my makeup - and it really helps me to achieve that flawless finish.

What is the different between authentic MAC make-up brush set and replica MAC brush set?

The replicas don't apply the makeup as well as the authentic MAC brushes.

The replica brushes shed rather quickly while authentic ones don't.

The replica brushes aren't as soft as the authentic MAC brushes.

Fake Brush:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Brand-New-24pcs-Make鈥?/a>What is the different between authentic MAC make-up brush set and replica MAC brush set?
well, theres alot of way u can tell if its fake or not. 90% of the brushes sold on ebay for example, are fake. u gotta buy them for close to the original price u can buy it at MAC and make sure the seller is in the US. (which to me is pointless, b/c u can buy it at MAC) but i don't know if that's what ur asking about.

most of the time, the MAC brush will say ';made in France/Japan';. it really depends on the brush itself tho. like for example: MAC 224 brush. is should say ';made in Japan'; and not feel ';springy'; it should be fluffy and somewhat dense, and if it sheds too much, odds are its fake. how do i know? b/c i purchase a fake MAC 244 off ebay. also, NEVER EVER EVER buy any type of ';brush set'; unless its part of a collection. 99.9% of the time, the brushes are fake.

jus b/c its fake, doesn't mean its bad. dupes for MAC brushes are the fakes ones or the Lo Cornell artist's brush at Michael's.What is the different between authentic MAC make-up brush set and replica MAC brush set?
never bought a replica, only got them from mac store. however if you are referring to sigma brushes or coastal scent brushes or even crown brushes then thats another thing.

check this guy out

the difference is the price.
Authentic are hand made and soft. Replica is a waste of money.
replicas hairs will fall out, i know from experience.

  • Proper way to wash and dry a kabuki make up brush?

i have the kabuki brush from bare minerals and i was wondering how to properly wash and dry it...please answer!

thank you.Proper way to wash and dry a kabuki make up brush?
wash it with your hands with soap and water.. then lay it out to dry on a paper towel or a wash cloth.. wring the water out by pinching it with your fingers...that's the best.. most effective way to clean them.Proper way to wash and dry a kabuki make up brush?
To wash your natural bristle mineral makeup brush, pour a little shampoo, hand wash soap or any antibacterial in a bowl and add some warm water. Then swirl the soap and water together before swirling your bristles in the soapy water, take care not to wet the handle or soak the handle. Keep swirling your bristles in the soapy water for about 2 minutes. Empty the bowl and add some warm clean water then swirl your bristles in the water for about a minute repeating the process and changing the water until it is devoid of bubbles (you need to make sure you use only a little soap in the first process or else you would find that it is soapier than you wanted and would need a lot more rinsing!). Shake off the excess water and lie flat on a clean surface (do not stand your brush on the handle when wet as water might loosen the glue holding the bristles in place).

If your brush is made from a synthetic material you will need to be careful when washing as they easily get misshapen, you will need to hold the bristles (lightly) with a rubber band before following the process above this will ensure the bristles keep their shape. Take off rubber band when dry.

I use shampoo to wash all my brushes. Then I add tony %26amp; guy conditioner (any good quality conditoner will do) and leave it on for 5 minutes and rinse off. The conditoner really softens the bristles nicely. I pat dry with towel and just leave to dry naturally. I treat my brushes like my own hair.
clinique makes a really good brush cleanser, it's not that expensive and you can buy it at any department store. They can give you profesional tips there, but I spray my brushes with the cleanser, gently rinse them with water and let them airdry. It works great!

What is a good quality, reasonably priced make up brush set?

I want a good brush set of about five or more brushes that is good for every day makeup

additional space in the brush set container would be even better

Do make up brush set brands really make a difference?

As in, does it matter which BRAND of brush sets you get or will any do? I got almost a whole set (sold separately actually) from Victoria's Secret from its 75% off semi annual sale.Do make up brush set brands really make a difference?
It depends on the type of brush each brand makes. I think every brand has it's hits and misses, so I wouldn't exclusively use one line. I actually have a brush from Victoria's Secret: it is a contour blush brush. I find it doesn't pick up the color as much as my blush brush from a different company (Costco's Kirkland brand, believe it or not). When buying brushes, consider the density of the brush, the shape, the softness, if it sheds or smells.Do make up brush set brands really make a difference?
i dont really care i just use like targets brushes, i see no difference. if it dosnt fall apart i dont care.
the brand sort of matters.the quality of the brush is what matters the most. but the better the brand the better the quality. a mac brush would be better than a brush you buy at walmart. that doesnt mean all walmart ones arent good, but the mac ones are better.
well yes becaus ei could go to CVS and buy a make up brush but i mean it wouldnt feel or work as well as a make up brush from SEPHORA
Brushes are important but they don't need to be SUPER expensive. The thing about makeup brushes is that they are the types of things that are worth spending a little extra dough on because if they are of good quality, you will keep them forever! They also have new brushes now that don't spread as much bacteria so you can share with friends without feeling super-guilty (although I prob wouldn't recommend it)! Brush quality can make a difference in the way your makeup looks and you don't want a cheap brush that sheds (its a pain). Good luck!!!

Target ';professional'; make-up brushes? Should I buy them?

Target has make-up brushes that look and feel like the more expensive professional make-up brushes you can buy at the mall. I was wondering if they work just as good? They are pricey for a department store. So would it be worth it to just buy my shadow and blush brushes from Target? has anybody tried Target's make-up brushes? and if so how do you like them? ThanksTarget ';professional'; make-up brushes? Should I buy them?
They are horrible. I hate them with a passion.

You have to buy them a lot because you can't wash them with out them turning to poo.

$15 ever month or $90 once?

i would go with the $90Target ';professional'; make-up brushes? Should I buy them?
They're okay, but not all that. I have their shader eyeshadow brush... it's somewhat flimsy and thin, but it does the job. Their foundation brush was better than I expected for 4 dollars, it's a bit on the thick side (in comparison to my elf foundation brush) but it's a bit flimsy also... but it still does the job!

How do you wash make up brushes?

Thanks:)How do you wash make up brushes?
I use anit-bacterial soap. i wash them gently by just lightly scrabbing them. shake out the water and set them on a paper towel till dry.then i shake them out again to fluff them up (for some reason they feel stiff after i wash them). but its like u do a good paint brush in my opinion-dont be rough rinse well and make sure u get all the soap out!How do you wash make up brushes?
Hmmm, depends on the quality of them.

If they are pricey ones, like the lush ones from Chanel, then Lancome do a special saline to wash brushes in - not cheap but if you have expensive brushes, why ruin them?

If just cheap ones, then use a balanced soap. To be honest I wash my cheap ones in Witch Foaming Facial Cleanser, it seems to work a treat. Foundations brushes are harder to clean - when I used a cheap Avon one (which surprisingly is pretty good). I would use soap to initial wash it, but then massage baby oil into it to get all the crap out.

Towel dry and leave to air dry :) Happy cleaning!
Depending on what material they are made out of. If they are acrylic (fake, not animal hair) use a light soap, such as Ivory and clean it under lukewarm water. If its animal hair you should use a brush cleaner.

Heres a link that explains how to wash your brushes if you need more details:

    Hope this helps! :)
Are the brushes Sable or Nylon?

    Sable-

1.Mix lukewarm water with a drop of your chosen cleanser and swish it. Swish your brush through the foamy water and then dump the water out. Keep making a new mix and swishing the brush through it until the water no longer gets discolored.

2.Rinse the brush gently under softly flowing water. It is also ok to swish the brush through plain water in a separate cup.

3.If the brush is thick, gently squeeze it between a folded lint-free cloth.

4.Place the brush on a level surface to air dry, making sure the bristles hang freely over the edge.

    Nylon-

1.Wet the brush and take a dollop of your chosen cleanser and gently work your cleanser into the bristles with your fingers. Do not rub up the shaft of the bristles, either go down repeatedly or gently rub from side to side.

    2.Rinse under softly flowing water.

3.If the nylon brush is thick, it is ok to squeeze it between the folds of a lint-free cloth.

4.Place the brush on a level surface with the bristles hanging freely over the edge.

Where to buy cheap make up brushes?

You can find inexpensive brushes at Walmart, or Target. But, I can tell you from experience, that it is better to invest in better brushes if you can. They work much better and last a lot longer so you save money in the long run. Sephora has their own line of brushes and they are not as expensive as others, but they are really good. I have a set of brushes that about 3-4 years old and they are still in good shape. Like most things, you get what you pay for.Where to buy cheap make up brushes?

What is the difference if a site provides an eye make up brush and an eye make up kabuki brush?

I am very uneducated about make up.

Also anyone buy any brushes from everyday minerals?

Any suggestions??What is the difference if a site provides an eye make up brush and an eye make up kabuki brush?
kabuki brushes are for mineral makeup.

and the regular ones are for reg. makeup.

but both work ok for whatever you use them, i guess.

lol. What is the difference if a site provides an eye make up brush and an eye make up kabuki brush?
An eye makeup brush generally will have curved bristles. An eye kabuki brush will be more flat and also denser (bristles closer together).

I wouldnt get brushes from EveryDay Minerals. I would try either www.coastalscents.com or even better, go to your local craft store and get paint brushes there. They are THE same brushes. Go to youtube and look for a video by Enkore. His does a video on the difference between MAC brushes and art supply store brushes (no difference).

Also, you can go to CVS and get their Essence of Beauty brushes.
yea kabuki brushes are usually associated w/ mineral makeup or applying powder/loose powder makeup. Also usually they are bigger and more expensive.

MAC makeup brush #187 is the best one for foundation. What is the best make-up brush to apply foundation with?
    It depends.

If your using a mineral makeup or liquid or whatever you bought.

-For mineral makeup get a kabuki brush.

-For cream i would suggest a MAC foundation brush. 190# is my favorite!

-And for liquide.. i don't really have experience with liquid but for me a sponge always worked best. But if the brand i bought was too hard for me to blend wit a sponge i would just use my foundation brush.

-if you get a mousse one just use our fingers.

hm, these are the only kind i've ever experienced with..
What kind of foundation are you using?

I use loose powder foundation, and I just use a Total Face Brush from eyeslipsface.com (e.l.f cosmetics). It works well and doesn't shed. For loose or pressed powder I think a kabuki brush will work well too. I think e.l.f has one and MAC and other high end make up brands will too.

For liquid foundation, just look for a general foundation brush. I've heard that the Sonia Kashuk brushes from Target are good, for a good price too. I'm practically positive they will have a foundation brush. i've also heard good things about Eco Tools brushes. Any brand will too!

Any other type of foundation (cream, mousse...) should probably be applied with the hands.

    Hope this helps!
    The bigger, the better.

When I have had to buy brushes for eye make up I just go into any drug store or discount department store (such as target) I really don't care about a brand name. I look for a brush that isn't too soft or the shadow won't stick well. But not stiff. Still is too hard on the eye lids. A lot of times you can find a ';kit'; with a couple different brushes. One of them will work. I agree with not too expensive. I go for the cheap ones. What are some good make up brushes for eyes that aren't too expensive?
personally, i think Target brushes do their job as do the Sonia Kashuk bruses at Target. Also, Coastal Scents also have professional quality brushes for a fraction of the price.

p.s. do NOT get Mark. brushes, they shed like crazy and the dye in the brushes comes off often.

    yeah of course

What can i use to clean make up brushes?

i dont have any brush cleanerWhat can i use to clean make up brushes?
Baby shampooWhat can i use to clean make up brushes?
You don't need a brush cleaner.

Just fill up your sink with warm water while adding a few drops of mild detergent (baby shampoo, etc) and put in your brushes. Let them soak for a few minutes, then swish the brushes around a bit, working the soapy water through the bristles, and drain the sink. Fill it again with clear water (no soap) and work it through the bristles. One more time, and the brushes are clean. Gently squeeze the water from the bristles, and lay them to dry on a clean towel.
You can either use shampoo like some people had suggested, or just a couple of spritzes of rubbing alcohol, the kind with the highest percentage of alcohol you can find. Generally though, I just use some hand soap which works just as well as shampoo.
Simply use some shampoo and/or conditioner. Rinse throughly, and set them down to dry.
    A mild shampoo
johnsons baby shampoo is best! xxx

Which make up brushes should I get?

I personally have Clinique - they have an antibacterial coding and they don't grow bacteria. Well it depends what kind of makeup you apply. Blush brushes are usually pretty fluffy and round. They are the roundest kinds. Bronzer brushes are the angled brushes. ...

inexpensive ones - AVON - still great
    Estee Lauder
MAC and Bobbi Brown are great, but Ruby and Millie do some rather good brushes in their collection at Boots that are a bit more reasonable - I really like their foundation brush.
I bought a set from Virgin vie they lasted ages
    go to superdrug, great value
the best ones are not always the top brand aim cheaper but get a good one at the same time its possible
Mac are amazing to use, and Bobbi brown are seriously good, and tbh, is a definate investment if you get their set.
Sonya Kashuk at target are the best! and they are really cheap, too!
mac is the best brand in make up and brushes you wont regret to bye them
Body Shop are award winning... I've got their foundation brush, its great. I had an estee lauder one that cost twice as much and all the bristles fell out!
CHANEL!!!!!! these are the best along with SMASHBOX - which are a little more pricey but worth every cent!
mac or bodyshop are really good and soft..!! Lols.!!
Howareya today bud, believe they sell em' in the DIY stores....don't forget the undercoat will ya?.....
buy them at Macy's or Bon-ton and buy them at the Clinique stand. That's wat I use
MAC do very good quality brushes. As a photographer who works with make-up artists, I know most of them use MAC brushes, and would reccommend them. Failing that, Sephora do good brushes.

Removing oil from make up brushes?

i accidently tipped over an open bottle of baby oil all over my make up brushes and they are soaked! i cant seem to get it out. I tried dish liquid but its not working.....Removing oil from make up brushes?
I clean my makeup brushes with antibacterial soap and then use a baby shampoo afterward to keep them soft.

I want to clean my make-up brushes. Whats the best way to do this?

I've been doing this for years! You need to find shampoo and conditioner that hydrates! I use Herbal Essences (Hello Hydration aka the teal bottle). Just wet the brushes and then put a dime size drop of shampoo on your brushes and gently massage the shampoo into the brush. Wash the brush off and repeat. Once your brushes look clean rub a little bit of the coditioner into the brush like you did with the shampoo. Wash the conditioner out and let the brushes air dry!I want to clean my make-up brushes. Whats the best way to do this?
Always use non fragrance soap with water and let air dry upside down. Or go to an expensive place and they have brand name cleaners.I want to clean my make-up brushes. Whats the best way to do this?
shampoo...if you can wash your hair with it why not brushes
Many make up brands now carry brush cleaner. Try to pick one with ingredients that of course don't damage your brushes but also won't mess with your face. A lot of soaps have mild detergents that although is washed off can still be abrasive to your skin. Some suggestions: Sephora Brand Brush Shampoo about $10, Clinique Makeup Brush Cleanser about $13, or Smashbox Brush Cleaner about $15. Hope it helps!
Caring for Makeup Brushes - Run the makeup brush under warm water and lather up with baby shampoo. Rinse with cool water.

Dry on a paper towel for at least 24 hours. This is the easiest and cheapest way to care for any type of brush, from nylon to sable.
When I clean my make-up brushes I just put small drops of shampoo on them and lather it then rinse. It gets them tremendously clean! Then you just lay them out on a towel to dry.

    :o)
When I bought my make up brushes from Lancome, the lady told me to wash them in a mild soap. I use purpose soap. The lady who told me to use the mild soap said she had her brushes for 5 years and they were just like new.

I would recommend to wash them about once a month.
It depends on brushes. U can wash them just in watter but it's not recomanded. My advice is just to rub them with some towel but gentilly.
MAC has the best makeup brush cleaner, because the hair on most brushes are natural MAC's remover also conditions the hair at the same time. I've tried sooo many products (sephora's to normal shampoo) i would say MAC's is the best. If you have like a blush/powder brush clean them with baby shampoo. NEVER soak your brushes because the glue that attaches the hairs to the wand will wear away and cause the hairs on your brushes to come off. Watch this video, he's a makeup pro and he'll help a lot.

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=xIGEr81FqTM

edit: shapoo is great for the hair but you'll still have bacteria after you dry them out.
What I do is put some water and baby shampoo or mild clenser in the skin, put the bristles in the brush in the sopay lukewarm water and rub them with your hands, then gently rinse, then shape them and lay them flat to dry.
buy a makeup cleanser you can get one from MAC and add some of the cleanser about 1/4 cup with water and let your brushes sit overnight in the cleanser mixture and in the morning take out and let them rinse in plain water for a few hours take them out and dry them with a blow dryer or let them air dry
Makeup companies sells brush cleaner that are used to cleans brushes. I find that any mild cleanser or shampoo can clean your brushes. Use a few drops and rinse in lukewarm water. And let the brush air dry so that the water drips off the brush.

  • I can't afford MAC make up brushes, any other alternatives?

I'm a little hesitant about blowing so much for make up brushes, do you girls know if there are other brushes that perform well too? I'm specifically in need of eyeshadow brushes, a skunk brush (or any blush brush), and a powder blush.

Thanks! :DI can't afford MAC make up brushes, any other alternatives?
Mary Kay has a cute and great Glamour Brush set that I love and that's not too expensive, especially compared to MAC brushes. There's an angled shadow brush, a blending brush, a eyeliner brush, a eyebrow/lash brush, a powder brush and a larger blending brush in a cute black rollup bag with room for other brushes you have already. I think the set is $45.I can't afford MAC make up brushes, any other alternatives?
i would recommend 'Jemma Kidd' make-up brushes. they start at 拢10 for blusher and cheaper for eye shadow and are really easy to use.
ebay has a lot of good sets of brushes...you can get any kind of animal hair you want...and they normally come in a case too
Do you have a Target? Sonia Kashuk brushes are inexpensive and excellent quality.
try sonia kusak (found at target). they are comparable to the expensive brushes like MAC. I have a few of her brushes and they are pretty good. you can also go to ulta and get some brushes from japanesque or something like that. i hear that they are the same ones like MAC.
Buy paint brushes, they work best.
magazines said Sonia Kashuk brushes from Target are the best steals
good morning, yes try Revlon brushes they are very good
i was on ebay last night, there is a HUGE range of quality animal hair brushes, sets from 5 brushes up to 30, and prices from $10- $200 in australian dollars, im a makeup artist and considering buying some of these, as they're made in hongkong and an absolute bargain!!!
I was buying MAC brushes until I heard of Sonia Kashuk brushes from Target.....They are very soft and the bristles DON'T fall out!!!! Go to MAC and feel their brushes then fell Sonia's brushes.......VERY GOOD FOR the PRICE!!!!!!
i love MAC.the brushes are amazing but yes they are a bit expensive you can buy any other brush not a big deal

    Affordable make up brushes online?

where can i find a set of affordable but high quality make up brushes online?Affordable make up brushes online?
Sephora.com has lots of makeup tools (and other products as well) that come in a vast range of prices to fit everyone's budget.

I, however, just got a great deal at Target (you could go to target.com if you want) on a makeup brush kit. I would recommend searching on their website!Affordable make up brushes online?
i feel these are moderately priced but if you want great quality these are it!
Mary Kay has an amazing but on brushes. i have had mine for 7 years. They wash beautifully (make sure you lay them flat to dry or water drips down the wood weakening it.)

Shipping if free in the USA.

    http://www.marykay.com/sdoshi/color/comp鈥?/a>
There's a Canadian line called Annabelle. They are only available in Canada, but they have high quality makeup brushes for cheap (as in, under $10).

However, if you want GOOD makeup brushes, it's better to put down a bit more money. After all, they will last you for most of your life.

Plus, they make even cheap makeup go well on your skin.

    Good lines:

MAC, NARS, Stila, Bobbi Brown, Bare Escentuals

If you want a drugstore line, Sonia Rykiel has excellent ones too.
I would go with Sephora. They have great makeup brushes, and you can buy professional sets for a great price.

I purchase new make up brushes....?

and I have no idea what to do. Do I clean them? If so how? They're brand new. I have like blush, powder, eyeshadow, lip etc... brushes.I purchase new make up brushes....?
I didn't wash my new ones, I wash them every month as recommended, in mild soap %26amp; lukewarm water, pat them on a paper towel to get excess off that shows if I've got them clean good or not %26amp; let them air dry.

I think she's got a good idea, except for spraying it on them often. That could cause a build up of moisture %26amp; start bacteria growing. Main thing is see that they dry good after you wash them.I purchase new make up brushes....?
Maybe cleaning them would be a good idea, you don't know how dirty the place that made the brushes was. Break them in a little bit, just blend using the brushes against your skin like you are applying it, but it'll just be you breaking them in. I don't think those are mandatory things to do with new brushes (I'm always to antsy to use my new brushes that I always forget to do those!) but they might help. Hopefully that helped! :)
You don't have to clean them before use.

I like to deep clean mine after I've used them a while though.

Soap and water doesn't cut it.

I made some brush cleaning solution by finding a squirt bottle, (I used an old root volumizer bottle) and added water, alcohol, hair conditioner, dish soap and some eye makeup remover. Every so often, I spray my brushed with it and clean it off with a paper towel.

    try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JENRwWaK鈥?/a>

i do it and it works great!!
Take a damp cloth and just wipe the brush clean. Make sure it is not very wet, atleast thats what I do.
no, you dont clean them when you first buy them.. however you could... but try not to wet them because it can cause breakage.. airing them in the sun is a great idea :)
you don't really need to clean them before using them.

some people choose to because they smell funny (animal hair).
me purchase new brushes, what to doooo???
i've never cleaned mine before use. but when they need it i use warm water n soap.

  • Make-up brushes?

What is the best solution/product for cleaning make-up brushes? A friend told me that using Johnson's baby shampoo works well - has anyone tried this?Make-up brushes?
YES!! Johnsons shampoo is the BEST thing to use and the makeup comes out really well! Good Luck and I hope I helped.

    ~AshleyMake-up brushes?
I have tryed several different brands, mary kay seemed to be the best, and the softest, and easiest to clean. Invest in mary kay ones all you have to is brush them on a towel and they will be clean.
I just put some soap on them, rinse them, and let them dry.
Yes mild shampoo works well. Just rinse well and let them dry.
Johnson's Baby Shampoo is the absolute best for cleaning brushes. Its formula is so gentle that it is also reccommended for removing makekup from your face (drag queens love it!!).

    Best of Luck!

    Make-up brushes...?

I recently purchased a lot of new make-up and I need brushes to apply it with. What company makes the best make-up brushes? What is the proper way to clean them and how often should you clean them?

    Thanks : )Make-up brushes...?
there are a few brushes every woman should have: concealer, powder, blush, flat shadow, and eye crease/contour. these are essential to a basic face, and some can double usage. additionally, you can get foundation, lip, eyeliner, mascara wand or fan, eye shader, eye smudger, etc.

if price is an issue, try palladio brushes from sally beauty supply. they are $7-17 each, and last forever. i have a flat shadow brush from this line that has never lost a bristle.

mark by avon has a mini set they sell all year long that is $19 for concealer, lip, eyeliner, shadow, and blush.

merle norman stores have full-size sets out of 5 of their most popular brushes and a brush cleaner for $29.

stila at sephora has nice brushes. some of them are dual-ended, so you get more for your money. they have a nice eye duo brush for $30, with a dense contour and smudger.

for foundation brushes, i actually have one from avon that has done well for years now. lancome has a great one, but it is pricey.

you have lots of options for washing brushes. i personally use a few methods to keep my brushes clean.

for quick cleans during the day, i use Brush Off. $14 at sephora. this is a spray that can be applied to any brush that has a powder makeup on it. the spray causes the powder to bead to the top of the bristles, and then you just swipe on a tissue to clean. this is a quick fix only, and not to be used as a substitute for regular washing.

for weekend washing, i use Merle Norman Conditioning Brush Cleaner. $5 at merle norman. this is a liquid that is added to a bowl of warm water, and can clean powders and liquids from bristles. add a capful, and swirl brushes. let sit for 5-10 minutes, then rinse under warm water until water runs clear. reshape bristles and lay flat. let dry completely before reuse.

both natural and synthetic brushes should be cleaned regularly for optimal performance and sanitation. mac and sephora also offer brush cleaners at about $10. johnson baby shampoo or dial hand soap (the ';gold'; one) can also be used to wash brushes. NEVER use a brush that is not completely dry.Make-up brushes...?
I like Sonia Kashuk brushes from Target.
    http://www.ask.com/web?q=Make-up+brushes%26amp;search=%26amp;qsrc=0%26amp;o=0%26amp;l=dir
bee luscious makes the best brushes. they are the real deal. they won't fall apart like cheap brushes. make sure you use a brush cleaner on any brush you buy. this will help them last longer. regular cleanser will damage the bristles.
Mac. Mac also sells a makeup brush cleaner. They're really good. :]
Probably Sephora. They're expensive, but once you get them, you generally don't need to replace them. A good investment :]
if you buy them at Dillards i think they have a lifetime warranty to them....but they cost alot depending on the brush you are planning on buying! they told me you clean them at least every other day with warm water and a little bit of makeup remover...the same kind you use on your face...
    Hi,

I know how frustrating it is to find a brush that irritates you're skin, or worse, doesn't give you desired results! MAC cosmetics makes fabulous brushes, and sephora does too, depending on where you live, I don't know what stores you have, but I know in Ontario and in the States, these stores are very widely available. You should clean you're brushes after every use. Put mild soap in them, and brush the tips lightly on the palm of you're hand, until the colour of the product you just used has mainly drained out. Then towel them off in the direction of the growth of the bristles. If you need assitance on how to use the brushes, just give my account an email!

    Good luck with you're makeup!

    xoxo, Hana

    Make up brushes?

What are the best make up brushes in stores and on the web? Also what material (hair) is best?Make up brushes?
    plastic (hard)Make up brushes?
Natural/soft brushes are best. Just make sure you clean them at least once a week no mater what you use. If you are using something that isn't disposable then you need to keep them clean to avoid getting skin infections (that is where alot of pimples come from...gross). Getting different sizes for different jobs does alot. Larger for applying blush and smaller for lips and eyeshadow.
I like Mary Kay brushes. They are very soft and last forever. They don't get messed up if you clean them. The set comes with five different brushes (powder, cheek, eye crease brush, eye definer, dual-end eyeliner/eyebrow).

    Hope that helps!
Use natural bristle not synthetic bristles ,,, goat hair and sable hair are the most popular,, sable is the most ... I do Mary Kay and we have a complete set of 5 professional brushes (natural hair ) in a pretty case for$ 45 .. I sell a lot of thes and also give them to my bridal clients and special occasion customers with purchase.
you could try in the beauty shops

or if you pop in a shop you could ask them what brush is the best but if you are looking for cheap ones buy avon's its only 8 pounds

    hope it helped
the best are deffo bobby brown. they are like soft mink fur , work great to blend in make up especially cream , foundation and blush. you get a large set of brushes eyeshadow, lip and foundation brushes, also blush brushes. you get a huge set , big thick brushes, big round brushes, skinny brushes and thicker brushes. the packaging is lovely . the hairs on the brush dont all break off and mine are still bushy from last year. the brushes are a wonder and a real bargain. they migfht not be real cheap but they last 4ever. try ebay
For blush, you will need the BIGGEST FLUFFIEST brush you can find. Material doesn't matter, but get the smallest bristles possible, for any make up brush. For spot concealer, get a small, dense brush.

Really, most is a personal preference that you will need to find
sephora, they have brushes made from hair of animals as well as alternative ones, they are supersoft and when applied to the face it really does the job

MAC is the best quality brush out there. Though they tend to be $18 and up for any tiny brush they sell. Sephora is same same, but they have more choices and a little bit cheaper and ULTA sells brand brushes, such as bareEscentuals.

oh and the sigma website is http://www.sigmamakeup.com/index.html
MAC are the best but the brushes are usually $42 ( a big investment).

Sigma brushes were made to make alternative brushes for cheap. But if you want good drugstore brushes, I recommended ecotools.
MAC- but a way cheaper verrsion of those brushes are COASTAL SCENTS brushes
MAC is one of the best brand out there for makeup brushes. They are expensive but definitely worthed to buy. If you want cheaper one, I highly recommend essence of beauty brush which you get from CVS, sonia kashuk brush, and sigma brush, which are great dupe for MAC brushes. hope this helps! :)
MAC have really good brushes, but very expensive. Sigma has exact dupes for mac brushes for sooo much cheaper.

  • Cleaning Make Up Brushes?

So im new at the whole ';cleaning'; Process.

Are you able to rinse them with water?

Are there any things to clean them with?

Yesterday I purchased Sephora's Brush Shampoo, and now that i think about it, Thats just a shampoo you use every now and then.Cleaning Make Up Brushes?
Most of the people are correct. I clean my brushes after each use because I do freelance work. I spray make-up cleanser on a white towel and brush the brushes until they show white. Never immerse your brushes in water because it will loosen the glue and make the hairs shed. Once a week put a little cleansing shampoo in a small amount of water in the face bowl. Swish the brushes in the water and store them handle up so the water doesn't run into the handle. Then put a little conditioner in the water next so that the hairs won't break and shed onto your face. Rinse them in clear water. Let them dry overnight laying flat and in the morning, they'll be dry and fresh and ready to use.Cleaning Make Up Brushes?
depending on how much you use your brushes you should probably wash them every week. yes you are able to rinse them with water. just get the brush wet, put a small dollop of the shampoo in your hand and rub the brush into it, and then rinse it out with water
i dont use anything cept a baby wipe

    it cleans pretty well

sometimes i rinse them under in the sink

    RAwrr
the best is to rinse them gently with cool to warm water.that's what i do

What are fan make-up brushes for?

Brushes like this: http://www.thebrushcompany.com/store/c/3鈥?/a>What are fan make-up brushes for?
It's for applying really dark or pigmented blushes. It makes the blush look more sheer. What are fan make-up brushes for?
They work wonderfully for two things:

    1. applying a light, natural sweep of blush onto your cheeks

    2. brushing away eye-shadow fallout (i.e. little speck of eye shadow that sometimes get onto cheekbones or the under eye area)

Hope I helped, I love fan brushes!!!
To apply highlighter on top of cheekbones (They pick up a really small amount of pigment from the pan, so it is almost impossible to over apply product when you use these). They don't really work as well for blush because they do not blend as they apply, the bristles are too flimsy.

They also work amazingly well to get rid of fallout under your eyes without disturbing any other makeup (concealer etc.)!
its for putting on highlighter. if you have ever seen what not to wear carmandie always uses them for that. highlighter you put on you cheekbones and corners of the eye to catch the light. gives more definition im pretty sure
I dont really know, I think that its for putting blush on. I want one
putting makeup on...blush....just like a normal one

    Best Make Up Brushes?

Who makes the best make up brushes? What types are the best to start out with buying?Best Make Up Brushes?
many people swear by MAC brushes, but it all really depends on your budget!! E.L.F has some awesome eye shadow brushes for only a dollar.... they have other brushes but the only ones i would actually recommend are the eyeshadow brushes... thats at eyeslipsface.com -- otherwise if you're on a budget and dont want to pay the MAC prices, they do sell some art brushes at your local craft stores that will do the exact same thing... yes theyre meant for paint, but they are still good quality when you get the right brushes. Look into it on youtube.com -- many people will give reviews on different websites and even the actual paint brushes. coastalscents.com also has an array of brushes, but again only some of them are worth the purchase, check out the following on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOusqXHyK鈥?/a> he does a lot of other reviews so poke around his videos and you'll see :) if that link doesnt work just look up EnKoreMakeup on youtube.com search. If you don't have a budget:

    MAC brushes.

If you DO have a budget:

    Sonia Kashuk

    or

LOEW CORNELL (this is a brand of brushes for painting, but they are very good and soft, some are very similar to make ones and they cost anywhere from $2-$10).

If your just starting out I would recommend the following, irregardless of the brand:

    -Powder Brush

    -Medium sized eye shadow brush

    -Foundation Brush

    -Kabuki Brush (very versatile brush)

-Blending, or pointed eye shadow brush

-Blush Brush (optional because you can use the kabuki or powder brush to do your blush).

You don't need alot of brush, if you understand how to use a few you can use them for many things.

You can use the kabuki brush for blush, foundation and powder. You can also use a large eyeshadow brush for your entire eyelid or just to get the apples of you cheeks with blush.
MAC makes very good brushes. I have a foundation, concealer, and small angle brush. If you like blush, then you probably want to get one of those too.
Mac is like magic! Kabukis do a lot, it's a good brush to have for all around everything.
Ruby %26amp; Millie do really nice brushes, to get the basic i would blush/bronzer brush, eyeshadow brushes and foundation brushes. P.S they are affordable

Is it safe to clean mascara brushes? also, any other make-up brushes?

I am cleaning them right now, and or not it was safe, because i am going through my make-up right now, so.. yeah:)Is it safe to clean mascara brushes? also, any other make-up brushes?
Yes, it's safe.Is it safe to clean mascara brushes? also, any other make-up brushes?
i clean mine with face wash. you get that near your eyes every time you clean anyhow right? it's fine.

or you can also use a make up remover. or vaseline...

but face wash is something you probably already own and is inexpensive.

i actually keep an old clean brush that doesn't have a bottle to use with my regular mascara. i either wipe it from the makeupy brush onto the clean one or i just clean up my lashes after using the new brush. :)
just make sure you clean them really. For your mascara brush just buy a new one it's kind of risky for an eye infection!
well here is some make up brush cleaner

Are animals killed for sable make up brushes?

yeah and many make up products animals are killed to be tested on and for other purposes :(Are animals killed for sable make up brushes?
    Yeah, put ';sable'; into wikipedia.

You can get fur-free ones quite easily though, ELF do them and there are superdrug ones etc

    What are these make-up brushes?

I'm just sorting out my make-up brushes and I've found two of which that I don't what they are.

One is a small sponge in a semi-circle shape, that i suppose could be a miniature make-up sponge with a handle, but I'm not sure. And the other is a small brush that is perfectly round with a flat top.

Thanks xWhat are these make-up brushes?
small spongy one could be a foundation or concealer brush. the other one could be for eye make up. but it could be either for eye shadow or smudge one. What are these make-up brushes?
I think the sponge one is a eyeliner blending one as foundation brushes have bristles
The sponge one sounds like a foundation one.

The other one could be an eyeshadow brush.

    X
    sponge = foundation.

small brush = eye makeup one!

    or maybe a blusher brush?

    defo (:

  • I bought MAC make up and brushes, how do I know if they are real?

I want to know if this is illegal and can I get the people who sold this in trouble?

Please answer if you really know the answer? Maybe someone who really has knowledge...I bought MAC make up and brushes, how do I know if they are real?
If they are new and cheap they are fake. I have bought a few dirt cheap fakes and have been happy with the quality. I would never buy fake make up though.

You cant really get them into trouble unless you get MAC to take action or have the ability to prove it yourself. If its EBAY then forget it, they dont want to know. and MAC are reluctant to take action. Try for your money back.

EDIT. If you get your money back then you should leave it at that. These sellers have your name and address and you just dont know who you are dealing with.I bought MAC make up and brushes, how do I know if they are real?
It sounds bad however it's not illegal to sell a fake productto people who choose to purchase them, about 4 years ago when I was 15 I went to Seattle and right on the side of the road they're selling fake Louis Vuittons, Coach and Dooney %26amp; Bourke bags; if this was genuinely something THEY could get in trouble for they wouldn't have had a huge stand with tons of people purchasing fakes with the public watching. If you didn't do the research and choose to purchase these products they will look at it as your fault, however trying to get your money back may be something worth while. Let them know you are not happy with your purchased product and that you would like your money back, unless they've stated they do not accept returns..You should be entitled.
you really should just buy them at the MAC store instead

because most of the time, they are fake.

i can't really tell whether they're fake but

just google MAC brushes and makeup and compare them to the ones

    you bought

well if you got them for cheap and on ebay they are probably fake

If i could only pick 4 make-up brushes, which ones should i get?

in orderr of importance [for mee]:

    foundation/cover-upp brush [to cover imperfectionss.]

blush/powder brush [to blend in blushh and powder.]

eyebrow brush [uh. just to make eyebrows look nicee. rofl.]

eyeshadow [to blend eyeshadow in withh.]

personally, i don't like lip brushes.

when i apply lipstick, i patt it in with my finger. it usually stays on longerr that way. and for lipgloss, they usually have a wand [unless it's a pot gloss. again, i just use my fingerr.]If i could only pick 4 make-up brushes, which ones should i get?
    A big one for powder

    A smaller one for blush

An even smaller one for eyeshadows

A liner for really cool eye effects.

Those would be my picks and I think I could do a lot with them.If i could only pick 4 make-up brushes, which ones should i get?
i actually had this dilemma... a concealer brush is absolutely necessary if you have dark circles (if not, substitute with a good angled crease brush for eye shadow); powder/blush brush (you can use 1 for both if you wipe it off really good), a smudge brush so you can get the 'smokey eye' look, and a small to medium eyeshadow brush (not the angled one).
One for blush, one for face powder, eye shadow brush %26amp; eye brow brush.
    Easy!

    a big, round blusher brush

an eyeliner brush (for cake eyeliner- blends better with shadow)

    one slanted eyeshadow brush

and one regular (full fan) eyeshadow brush!

These are all four brushes that I use every day!
One for blush, one for eye shadow, one for lip gloss, and one for powder.
    2 for eyes ,1 cheeks,1 lips
one for blush, one for eyeshadow, one for cover up and another for a toner

Is it safe to clean mascara brushes? also, any other make-up brushes?

I am cleaning them right now, and or not it was safe, because i am going through my make-up right now, so.. yeah:)Is it safe to clean mascara brushes? also, any other make-up brushes?
Yes, it's safe to clean mascara and other brushes. Is it safe to clean mascara brushes? also, any other make-up brushes?
Yes! It's safe to clean mascara brushes, and it's recommended to clean all other makeup brushes that you use.
Dirty brushes, powder puffs, and sponges are not good for skin. Bacteria build up on them and when you apply makeup to clean skin you are just putting more and more bacteria into your pores which causes breakouts and skin conditions.

Puffs and sponges are more disposable (in most cases) and should be replaced. Puffs and sponges do not dry easily after cleansing and they are significantly cheaper than a quality set of cosmetic brushes.

A dirty makeup brush is not only unhygienic but is quite likely to worsen or cause more breakouts, rashes, etc. Therefore, you should always clean your makeup brushes as they almost always have build ups of makeup, oil and bacteria. Once every 2-4 weeks should suffice for most people.

There are many brush cleaners available. Two excellent brands worth mentioning are Masters Brush Cleaner %26amp; Preserver and ';Pink Soap'; Artist Brush Cleaner and Conditioner. They both clean and rinse out very well. They are available at any good art supply or cosmetic store. Clinique and Avon also offer very good cosmetic brush cleansers.

However, you can also simply use a good quality shampoo. Let brushes air dry. I do not recommend using a hair dryer to speed the process up. Heat damages brushes much in the same way it does hair and can cause the glue that binds the brush to it's handle to melt and ruin the brush.
the problem with cleaning the mascara brush is you end up with a clean brush but the same bacteria in the mascara itself, after so many uses. other brushes, like blush or powder shadow, wash fine with soap and water; let dry completely in air before putting back in a case.
I use baby shampoo once a month to clean my brushes in addition to the daily M.A.C. brush cleanser (I am a makeup artist) Both are very gentle, so when the brushes dry any leftover residue won't irritate your face....
yeah it's safe. It wont hurt anything.
