Make up brushes?

Has anyone ever washed out their bare essentials make up brushes or do you just buy new ones??Make up brushes?
you should just buy new ones. after a while they get bacteria in them and washing them is more trouble than it's worth.Make up brushes?
i wash my bare essentials make up brushes with clinique makeup brush cleaner- also sephora makes very good makeup cleaning wipes that you just sweep over the brush. no rinising required.
I go with buying new ones. When it's time to get a new toothbrush, get new makeup brushes too. This keeps everything sanitary. Also, if you wear mascara, DO NOT use it for more than 6 months. It is very unsanitary and can cause infections and irritations. And don't share with anyone either!
Makeup brushes NEED to be washed/cleaned so that your makeup stays true and not blotchy.

You can do this a number of ways:

* Use makeup brush cleaner

OR

* Use baby shampoo and wash them in soapy water and rinse well and let AIR DRY after blotting them with paper towels.

This should keep them nice and fresh.

For stubborn gooky brushes (like a lip brush with lip gloss, gels, etc.) - use rubbing alcohol to get the sticky stuff off before you wash with the shampoo and water.

GOOD EYE MAKE UP BRUSHES?

Do u no any good brushes for eye make up? Do u no the make e.g. avon, the type e.g like a C17, and what its for e.g blendingGOOD EYE MAKE UP BRUSHES?
I am absolutely in love with Bare Escentual's Rock and Roll brush. It has a rounded end for that is perfect for applying by sweeping or patting, blending and smudging eyeshadow and the other end is a pointed brush for lining your eyes or doing extremely detailed works. It is not available by itself from BE, but comes as part of their Rocker Eye Kit (which is actually pretty cool). I put a link to someone selling one on eBay. It's my favorite brush, hands down.

MAC has an awesome one called the 227 Large Fluff brush that's good for applying and blending.

I got a cheap set of brushes from Target from Essential Tools (also available at Wal Mart) that came with several small brushes that I use for sweeping and blending and enhancing my look, here's a link for that:

For high end brushes I suggest MAC brushes. Another alternative are Sephora brushes. But Target has a makeup line called ';Sonia Kashuk'; that sells very good brushes at a low price!

where can i find a good set of make up brushes? i don't want to spend a lot of money, but at the same time i want a good set!

any other information about the brushes would be great too!!

oh and if you know of a great make up case, that you just love, let me know too!!

thanks girls!Make up brushes?
If you dont want to spend alot, like on MAC and sephora...etc (even though if you can wait, MAC comes out with holiday specials every christmas. Their reasonable, great, and in a designed case) - then sonia kashuk from target has good brushes. You can buy them all seperatley, and sometimes there's a kit, w/ case.

Hope this helped:)Make up brushes?
mark. (the daughter company to avon) has great quality brushes. Their full size brushes range from $5-8. The foundation brush and blush and bronzer brush are very popular. They also have a set of travel size brushes called Go With The Pro for only $15 and includes a Powder, concealer, eye liner, eye shadow, and lip color brush all in a portable case.

As far as a makeup case, mark.'s Expandable Cosmetic Case ($12) is awesome! It expands for travel. But is great for everyday. I keep it in my purse with all my mark. products in it.

I also seen the 120 colour pallette.. ohhh lala!

    Might get that ;)!

I honestly have no idea about brushes.

    I almost spent 60$ at M.A.C on li,e, a 5 pc. set.

But this, I may give a shot. That is an intense amount of brushes!Question about make up brushes?
I'd say it depends on your needs, I'd certainly be willing to pay it if I had any need for five kinds of eyeshadow brushes and a highlighter for each spot on myu face, but personally i don't so I would buy just a few and have it rack up to a lot less, then get that many for that price.
Absolutely not. It seems too good to be true. Invest in a good brush, it wont streak when you apply make up and it wont fall apart after you wash it once.
haha i might buy that!!!! 34 brushes for $37?!?!?!? that is like the best deal i have ever heard of! they look like good quality too. brushes usually cost $10-30 EACH! (for good ones)
dEFINATELY THAT IS AN AMAZING DEAL U DONT EVEN NO BUY IT ( B4 I DO ! LOL JK

Will M.A.C make-up brushes last for years?

I'm planning on buying a whole set of make-up brushes from MAC soon and was wondering if they last a long time because they're really expensive and just hope it's worth itWill M.A.C make-up brushes last for years?
Yes, they will last long if you keep very good care of them. Ask the lady at you MAC counter exactly how you should clean them :)

    They are wonderful brushes :)

Good Luck! Will M.A.C make-up brushes last for years?
It depends on how you take care of them. Also, I wouldn't recommend buying a brush set. They are cheaper quality than the individual brushes. You must remember to clean them regularly, at least 2 a week. If you are good to them they will be good to you!
I bought an eye liner brush and after about 2 months all the hairs spread out and it became useless.
    they do

as long as you take care of them

ask the sales lady what you can do to make it last a while

Help with girl question (guys and girls answer)?

Ok so I am almost done my first year of college and I have never been outgoing towards the opposite sex because I guess im just a pu**y when it come to girls. However before college about a year from now there was this girl (a grade below me) I had been seeing for a while who i met because my best friend and her best friend were and still are going out. I really liked her and she really really really liked me but i blew it due to my lack of making a move because I am a pu**y. During my spring break about three weeks ago I saw her for the first time after we stopped talking about a year ago at a mini party with close friends. It surprisingly wasnt awkward at all even tho we didnt talk to much. I am now starting to think about her a little and maybe i want to try to hang out with her in the summer and hopefully start up something cuz she just an awesome person and pretty and like i just click with her. DO you think i should pursue her or forget about her because after the summer ill be back at college about 2 hours from home and she will be at some other college.Help with girl question (guys and girls answer)?
youl regret it if you dont sounds like you found something special in her. and trust me if she liked you then you can fix things. i was like that but did end up managing to get with this amazing girl she was one of a kind then even though i knew what i should do i alwas doubted myself and in the end we broke up. it was obvious she was still in love with me but as usually i doubted what i knew. so finally another girl came along and i just went for it to try to get over her guess what never completely did then after 2 years of hell and her not letting me talk to her which sucked since she was still my best friend. out of the blue i told her i wanted to be with her again we started talking and i stole her away from her fiance and we couldnt be happier. anyways i rambled a little but the point is sometimes its never to late and you have to go for what you think is right. when i met her i was shy as hell i had been on the dating site she was on for months and never had the courage to message anyone and i saw her and something told me i had to. so just go for it and dont doubt your self that what will help you the most i used to be worse then you by the way thats one big reason i won my girl back surprised the hell out of her when she found out everything i had been saying wasnt just talk lol. so long story short go for it, be confident, and dont give up.Help with girl question (guys and girls answer)?
If you really love her for herself, then go for it, bro. But it you want her for 'that other reason', then I don't think you should, really. If you want to focus on college, you can always have a go with her afterward. If she's still annoyed, I suggest you sweeten her up or wait till she's not annoyed anymore. Anyway, be sure you can LIVE with her around. It might be a little different. Have fun.
Man up and ask her out! What is the worse that can happen? She says no and its no big deal. She says yes then it could be great!

You are a young man and I'm pushing 50 so let me give you some advice son. Very seldom do we look back with regret on the things we did. We regret the things we don't do. You have to take control of your love life or you are going to regret it. Good luck to you!

    Tim
    follow ur heart.
You should definitely go for it and pursue her. Maybe she is old fashioned like some girls are and won't come up to you, so you have to go up to her. Ive had plenty of guys tell me they liked me in high school but they were always too shy to approach me, and most of the time i wish they would have because they could have been great people to hang out with. You never know what could happen if you don't give it a try. It doesn't matter if she isn't going to the same college as u there will still be plenty of opportunities for you both to talk and see each other, long distance relationships work if you want them to. GOOD LUCK!!!! P.S ur not a pu**y its okay to be nervous about someone u like.

    Best make up brushes?

I'm going to get all new makeup brushes and just want to know which are the best.

    But they have to:

    1- Be in Australia (Melbourne)

2- Each brush be about $10-15 each

Normally I would just get all MAC but I'm moving and mac is expensive, so I can't really afford to spend $60+ for a single brush. Best make up brushes?
For $10-15 try Wal-Mart or Target...or any similar stores. That's your best bet.Best make up brushes?
buy mac brushes on ebay, you can get a 30 pack for liek 24 dollars if you get them from hong kong.
try places like priceline, they always have pretty good stuff that reasonably cheap. search around. even like myer, kmart and chemists may have good ones. good luck

mac brushes are probably the best makeup brushes around, they are used by professional makeup artists worldwide, celebrities and the expensive price shows that you are paying for the quality. i have all the mac brushes, and i wouldn't buy anything other than it. M.a.c make up brushes?
I don't understand why college would need brushes better quality than anything else, but yes, I ahve a few brushes by MAC and love the quality. Especially their white fiber brushes, they're so soft and easy to use.
All M.A.C. brushes are wonderful execpt the 202 replaceable sponge tip eyeshadow applicator, and the mascara wand thing.

I swear by Smashbox brushes. They're so precise, and they make applying eye makeup easy. You can get this four-pack from QVC for around 拢20. Trust me, it may seem like a lot, but these brushes last forever!

I purchase new make up brushes....?

and I have no idea what to do. Do I clean them? If so how? They're brand new. I have like blush, powder, eyeshadow, lip etc... brushes.I purchase new make up brushes....?
I didn't wash my new ones, I wash them every month as recommended, in mild soap %26amp; lukewarm water, pat them on a paper towel to get excess off that shows if I've got them clean good or not %26amp; let them air dry.

I think she's got a good idea, except for spraying it on them often. That could cause a build up of moisture %26amp; start bacteria growing. Main thing is see that they dry good after you wash them.I purchase new make up brushes....?
Maybe cleaning them would be a good idea, you don't know how dirty the place that made the brushes was. Break them in a little bit, just blend using the brushes against your skin like you are applying it, but it'll just be you breaking them in. I don't think those are mandatory things to do with new brushes (I'm always to antsy to use my new brushes that I always forget to do those!) but they might help. Hopefully that helped! :)
You don't have to clean them before use.

I like to deep clean mine after I've used them a while though.

Soap and water doesn't cut it.

I made some brush cleaning solution by finding a squirt bottle, (I used an old root volumizer bottle) and added water, alcohol, hair conditioner, dish soap and some eye makeup remover. Every so often, I spray my brushed with it and clean it off with a paper towel.

    try this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JENRwWaK鈥?/a>

i do it and it works great!!
Take a damp cloth and just wipe the brush clean. Make sure it is not very wet, atleast thats what I do.
no, you dont clean them when you first buy them.. however you could... but try not to wet them because it can cause breakage.. airing them in the sun is a great idea :)
you don't really need to clean them before using them.

some people choose to because they smell funny (animal hair).
me purchase new brushes, what to doooo???
i've never cleaned mine before use. but when they need it i use warm water n soap.
    What?

    Best Make up Brushes?

I was wondering... can any1 recommend me seriously the best quality of make up brushes?

    Brand and Hair type?

Where the hairs don't fall off after washing them.

I was told racoon hair was good.Best Make up Brushes?
I would have to say MAC. All of their brushes are professional quality and NONE of them shed ! Some of their brushes are synthetic and some are goat hair but all of them are super soft and apply products the way they are supposed to go on !

For eyeshadows i recommend the 239 . It is a great brush to put on an overall color and it packs on the color really well.

For liquid foundation, i recommend the 188. It is called a skunk brush and it gives the perfect coverage.

For powder blush i recommend the 129

and for liquid or gel eyeliner, 209 or 210.

If you want good quality brushes for cheaper prices, try coastal scents. The quality is comparable to MAC and they are MUCH cheaper!!

    http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/鈥?/a>

A lot of them are good MAC brush dupes.

Good luck ! :)Best Make up Brushes?
I like Sephora brand brushes and Bare Essenctals. The bare essentals brushes are somewhat expensive but they are awesome. I love the sephora brand brushes they are great and last a long time. They are not expensive either. Don't forget to get a great brush cleaner to help extend the life of your brushes. Clinque makes a great one.
    MAC brushes are the best.

They have synthetic and natural hair brushes so you can decide what you like better. Natural fibers pick up more product, which is not always a good thing.

Here are some of my MUST HAVE brushes from MAC:

MAC217: good for blending and applying eyeshadow (natural).

MAC263: Good for eyelining the eyes with eyeshadow.

MAC169: Great for Blush application and contouring (if you like that).

MAC224: This is the best brush ever for blending colors. it's so easy to look like a professional did your eye makeup with this brush.

    Hope this helps.

Also, brushes should not be washed. you need to clean them with just a little bit of brush cleanser. You never ever want to soak your brushes, they will decay and fall of the barrel! yikes!
MAC has proabally the best brushes out there. Although they're expensive.

    Goat hair is pretty good.

Um, it's ok if your brushes shed a little. It just loose hairs from packaging.
I love my Mary Kay Brush set. They are PETA approved.
MAC has pretty good ones, but if you're on a budget, then try e.l.f brushes or jane. They're the cheapest and they last for about 3 months until they start falling apart.
MAC and Bare Essentials--you can wash the brushes
    mac, but they are cheap

    Make up brushes?

What are the best make up brushes in stores and on the web? Also what material (hair) is best?Make up brushes?
    plastic (hard)Make up brushes?
Natural/soft brushes are best. Just make sure you clean them at least once a week no mater what you use. If you are using something that isn't disposable then you need to keep them clean to avoid getting skin infections (that is where alot of pimples come from...gross). Getting different sizes for different jobs does alot. Larger for applying blush and smaller for lips and eyeshadow.
I like Mary Kay brushes. They are very soft and last forever. They don't get messed up if you clean them. The set comes with five different brushes (powder, cheek, eye crease brush, eye definer, dual-end eyeliner/eyebrow).

    Hope that helps!
Use natural bristle not synthetic bristles ,,, goat hair and sable hair are the most popular,, sable is the most ... I do Mary Kay and we have a complete set of 5 professional brushes (natural hair ) in a pretty case for$ 45 .. I sell a lot of thes and also give them to my bridal clients and special occasion customers with purchase.
you could try in the beauty shops

or if you pop in a shop you could ask them what brush is the best but if you are looking for cheap ones buy avon's its only 8 pounds

    hope it helped
the best are deffo bobby brown. they are like soft mink fur , work great to blend in make up especially cream , foundation and blush. you get a large set of brushes eyeshadow, lip and foundation brushes, also blush brushes. you get a huge set , big thick brushes, big round brushes, skinny brushes and thicker brushes. the packaging is lovely . the hairs on the brush dont all break off and mine are still bushy from last year. the brushes are a wonder and a real bargain. they migfht not be real cheap but they last 4ever. try ebay
For blush, you will need the BIGGEST FLUFFIEST brush you can find. Material doesn't matter, but get the smallest bristles possible, for any make up brush. For spot concealer, get a small, dense brush.

Really, most is a personal preference that you will need to find
sephora, they have brushes made from hair of animals as well as alternative ones, they are supersoft and when applied to the face it really does the job

    Make up brushes help?

Im a teenager and im just getting into makeup. I wear liquid foundation %26amp;%26amp; powder foundation. I was wondering what brushes do i use? What is a blender brush? Can that be used to apply liquid foundation? And can you stipple your makeup on with it? Thank you!Make up brushes help?
For liquid foundation you should use a foundation brush, of course! You should use the foundation brush under your eyes and around your nose, but you'll probably have to blend the foundation in a bit with your finger because those are sensitive areas.

Example: (You should probably get a better quality brush than this but this is an example of what it looks like):

    http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/鈥?/a>

You can totally stipple liquid foundation on around your cheeks and your forehead.

    EX. http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/鈥?/a>

Powder should be put on with a kabuki or a regular powder brush.

    Kabuki:

    http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/鈥?/a>

    Powder brush:

    http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/鈥?/a>

P.S. The makeup palettes from this website are amazing!

A blender brush is just a brush that blends makeup in. It is usually used on the eyes to mix eyeshadow.

    http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/鈥?/a>Make up brushes help?
In makeup there;s no rules use what ever you like for Foundation use your fingers, sponge, and or foundation brush (YES you can use a stipple brush if you like)

For powder a nice dense powder brush would work just fine, and or a KABUKI BRUSH
I think a songe works better for liquid foundation. Powder a loose brush.

  • Make-up brushes...?

I recently purchased a lot of new make-up and I need brushes to apply it with. What company makes the best make-up brushes? What is the proper way to clean them and how often should you clean them?

    Thanks : )Make-up brushes...?
there are a few brushes every woman should have: concealer, powder, blush, flat shadow, and eye crease/contour. these are essential to a basic face, and some can double usage. additionally, you can get foundation, lip, eyeliner, mascara wand or fan, eye shader, eye smudger, etc.

if price is an issue, try palladio brushes from sally beauty supply. they are $7-17 each, and last forever. i have a flat shadow brush from this line that has never lost a bristle.

mark by avon has a mini set they sell all year long that is $19 for concealer, lip, eyeliner, shadow, and blush.

merle norman stores have full-size sets out of 5 of their most popular brushes and a brush cleaner for $29.

stila at sephora has nice brushes. some of them are dual-ended, so you get more for your money. they have a nice eye duo brush for $30, with a dense contour and smudger.

for foundation brushes, i actually have one from avon that has done well for years now. lancome has a great one, but it is pricey.

you have lots of options for washing brushes. i personally use a few methods to keep my brushes clean.

for quick cleans during the day, i use Brush Off. $14 at sephora. this is a spray that can be applied to any brush that has a powder makeup on it. the spray causes the powder to bead to the top of the bristles, and then you just swipe on a tissue to clean. this is a quick fix only, and not to be used as a substitute for regular washing.

for weekend washing, i use Merle Norman Conditioning Brush Cleaner. $5 at merle norman. this is a liquid that is added to a bowl of warm water, and can clean powders and liquids from bristles. add a capful, and swirl brushes. let sit for 5-10 minutes, then rinse under warm water until water runs clear. reshape bristles and lay flat. let dry completely before reuse.

both natural and synthetic brushes should be cleaned regularly for optimal performance and sanitation. mac and sephora also offer brush cleaners at about $10. johnson baby shampoo or dial hand soap (the ';gold'; one) can also be used to wash brushes. NEVER use a brush that is not completely dry.Make-up brushes...?
I like Sonia Kashuk brushes from Target.
    http://www.ask.com/web?q=Make-up+brushes%26amp;search=%26amp;qsrc=0%26amp;o=0%26amp;l=dir
bee luscious makes the best brushes. they are the real deal. they won't fall apart like cheap brushes. make sure you use a brush cleaner on any brush you buy. this will help them last longer. regular cleanser will damage the bristles.
Mac. Mac also sells a makeup brush cleaner. They're really good. :]
Probably Sephora. They're expensive, but once you get them, you generally don't need to replace them. A good investment :]
if you buy them at Dillards i think they have a lifetime warranty to them....but they cost alot depending on the brush you are planning on buying! they told me you clean them at least every other day with warm water and a little bit of makeup remover...the same kind you use on your face...
    Hi,

I know how frustrating it is to find a brush that irritates you're skin, or worse, doesn't give you desired results! MAC cosmetics makes fabulous brushes, and sephora does too, depending on where you live, I don't know what stores you have, but I know in Ontario and in the States, these stores are very widely available. You should clean you're brushes after every use. Put mild soap in them, and brush the tips lightly on the palm of you're hand, until the colour of the product you just used has mainly drained out. Then towel them off in the direction of the growth of the bristles. If you need assitance on how to use the brushes, just give my account an email!

    Good luck with you're makeup!

    xoxo, Hana

I'm really hard on makeup brushes but the cheapest in my kit that have held up the longest are my set of Merle Norman brushes. You can usually find a collection of them for around $25. Look on Ebay for them because every Christmas they do a holiday set for $25 and someone is usually re-selling it on Ebay.

Another really wonderful reasonably priced brand is A-design brushes. They make a travel pouch of brushes for $45. I like my A-design over my MAC because they don't loose hairs like the MAC do over time. You can also go to the art store and pick up a few brushes. I really only like to do that for things like angled eyebrow, fan brushes, and some eyeshadow brushes. Art store brushes have coarser hair (which is why they are cheaper) so they won't work well with blending some of your product.

No matter how little or how much you spend make sure to take proper care of your brushes. Never wash them in harsh detergents. The rule is if you wouldn't use it on your hair don't use it on your makeup brush hair. Most makeup brushes are made of animal hair so it needs to be treated as if it is hair to prevent breaking off, splitting, and drying. I always re-shape mine with some conditioner after washing with a moisturizing shampoo (I don't recommend baby shampoo if you want them to last). Let the conditioner set for an hour and then lightly rinse with cool water. It's okay if a little residue stays on the brush. It helps the brush keep it's shape and helps it to pick up color. I've had my brushes for almost 10 years without having to replace them because of caring for them so carefully. Every set I'm at i'm asked if I'm using new brushes because mine are so soft and perfectly formed.Best cheap make up brushes?
i got one at target..i dont know what brand..but its amazing.
I love the quality and Price of the MARK brand. It's all I use. Very good quality and value for the price.
Soft paint brushes R good enough to blend the maleup spong and cotten can be use too.
Seriously get some artist paint brushes when they are on sell at a hobby lobby or something. They are of higher quality and you will get better results and they r generally cheaper then the *good* make up brushes.
sephora or any makeup counter mine are all lancome and they work great.

dont try nd save money on make-up brushes!!!! a good set of brushes can take u from normal to gorjus!!!! its so important in blending.....i suggest investin in a good set of MAC brushes or even the body shop....get two eye brushes, on big powder one, a lip brush nd a medium sized brush for bronzer/blusher.....trust me even if u egt it one by one u wont go rong....
any old one you can find @ a drug store.
    Japonesque.

    Check them out on Nordstrom.com

I use them sometimes if I don't have the cash for MAC!
You can buy any cheap set at Walmart but theyre horrible to use. And im cheap, so ive tried em all. i finally settled on these ones from Target. The brand is Sonya Kushak or sumthin like that. Theyre not that epensive - not proffesional price at all. I think they're abt $7-$9 for eye brushes, foundation brushes. The big ones cost more, of course. You can but a set of em for like $25. Theyre reallllllly good,
The cheapest make-up brushes that u can find r from $2 shops. They all do the job whether they r cheap or expensive.
    wal-mart
Try www.e.l.f.com it stands for eyes lips and face all of their products are 1.00. The makeup isn't that good but the brushes work fantastic. Its like the cheapest! Some Targets have them but mine doesn't so I just order it on line.
    Target!
Don't skimp on quality brushes, it does make a huge difference! Sephora is reasonably priced.

What are the best make up brushes?

MAC have really good brushes, but very expensive. Sigma has exact dupes for mac brushes for sooo much cheaper. What are the best make up brushes?
You asked for the best, the best is MAC. Others are cheaper alternatives, but you asked for the best. What are the best make up brushes?
MAC are the best but the brushes are usually $42 ( a big investment).

Sigma brushes were made to make alternative brushes for cheap. But if you want good drugstore brushes, I recommended ecotools.
    These ones: https://www.bnevertoobusytobebeautiful.c鈥?/a>

    They are so pretty!!

They are UK, and I'm sure they ship to Ireland too :)

Or like the others said, you could get MAC ones. They are supposed to be really good!
    Natural hair brushes.
in my opinion MAC are the best but they are reallly expensive...if you want MAC quality but don't wanna pay the price try sigma makeup brushes. i got them because i wanted new stuff for school and i got them and their comparable to MAC, and its like $70 for the whole kit where MAC would be like $300 for every brush they had. hope i helped!

oh and the sigma website is http://www.sigmamakeup.com/index.html
MAC- but a way cheaper verrsion of those brushes are COASTAL SCENTS brushes
MAC is one of the best brand out there for makeup brushes. They are expensive but definitely worthed to buy. If you want cheaper one, I highly recommend essence of beauty brush which you get from CVS, sonia kashuk brush, and sigma brush, which are great dupe for MAC brushes. hope this helps! :)
The body shop do great make up brushes - natural, soft etc.

If you'd like to purchase something higher end, I suggest you use eBay. Many sellers sell items brand new, still packaged and for a fraction of the price.

If you're looking for something cheaper, try this foundation brush as a start:

It's cheap but has rave reviews. Also try your local supermarket or Avon.

I'm a little bit lazy when it comes to cleaning my make-up brushes... but I would say every 3rd month, then you keep 'em clean.

I just use lukewarm water %26amp; soap... - remember, they have to be totally dry before u can use them again, so it's a bad idea to clean them right before you're going to use 'em. :)

    Good luck
I clean mine as necessary, but you can buy a solution that will clean your brushes. I know MAC sells it.

  • Best Make Up Brushes?

Who makes the best make up brushes? What types are the best to start out with buying?Best Make Up Brushes?
many people swear by MAC brushes, but it all really depends on your budget!! E.L.F has some awesome eye shadow brushes for only a dollar.... they have other brushes but the only ones i would actually recommend are the eyeshadow brushes... thats at eyeslipsface.com -- otherwise if you're on a budget and dont want to pay the MAC prices, they do sell some art brushes at your local craft stores that will do the exact same thing... yes theyre meant for paint, but they are still good quality when you get the right brushes. Look into it on youtube.com -- many people will give reviews on different websites and even the actual paint brushes. coastalscents.com also has an array of brushes, but again only some of them are worth the purchase, check out the following on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOusqXHyK鈥?/a> he does a lot of other reviews so poke around his videos and you'll see :) if that link doesnt work just look up EnKoreMakeup on youtube.com search. If you don't have a budget:

    MAC brushes.

If you DO have a budget:

    Sonia Kashuk

    or

LOEW CORNELL (this is a brand of brushes for painting, but they are very good and soft, some are very similar to make ones and they cost anywhere from $2-$10).

If your just starting out I would recommend the following, irregardless of the brand:

    -Powder Brush

    -Medium sized eye shadow brush

    -Foundation Brush

    -Kabuki Brush (very versatile brush)

-Blending, or pointed eye shadow brush

-Blush Brush (optional because you can use the kabuki or powder brush to do your blush).

You don't need alot of brush, if you understand how to use a few you can use them for many things.

You can use the kabuki brush for blush, foundation and powder. You can also use a large eyeshadow brush for your entire eyelid or just to get the apples of you cheeks with blush.
MAC makes very good brushes. I have a foundation, concealer, and small angle brush. If you like blush, then you probably want to get one of those too.
Mac is like magic! Kabukis do a lot, it's a good brush to have for all around everything.
Ruby %26amp; Millie do really nice brushes, to get the basic i would blush/bronzer brush, eyeshadow brushes and foundation brushes. P.S they are affordable

How should I make my dark blue eyes look more blue?

should I buy mac brushes? Are they worth the money?

What brand is good for blusher?Make up help?make up brushes.....?
Smashbox brushes hands down. I love the quality %26amp; the hairs on their brushes have more quality. Don't get me wrong Mac brushes are good, but I prefer Smashbox or NARS makeup brushes.Make up help?make up brushes.....?
When you have blue eyes you should really where a lighter shade at the bottom and then just before the creae of the eye blend it in using a darker shade this is done by a eyeshadow brush.

And another tip when applying the eyeshadow end the eyeshadow at the bud of the eye this will create a wider eye and bring out the colour of your eyes!

And as for buying the brushes! Just go to bosy shop and buy them from there. Their expensive but there sure worth the money!
For Blue eyes, you can use greys, violets, purple or dark blue eye shadows ~~these colors will look great.

The dark blue eye shadow in particular is sweet ~~~because it will be darker than your eye color, so it will accentuate your blue eyes!!

I love my Sonia Kashuk makeup brushes %26amp; I got them at Target. Have used several brands, but SK is my fave. Have never used MAC brushes so I cant compare.

Loreal is a good brand for blush. In a pinch I use my lipstick %26amp; dot it on my cheeks %26amp; blend~~ it works just fine. I use Sheer Minerals makeup %26amp; apply terra cotta or blossom or pomegranate as my main blushes. (Depends on your skin color).
don't tell anyone but i have a cheap cream blusher from Next....and its really good :) it can be subtle or bold and blends really well.

using natural colours makes blue eyes stand out. brown based but keep it light.

grey is also good but you really have to find the right shade
i sell Mark products and we have a mark brush mini kit which includes a case, eye shadow brush, eye liner brush, concealer brush, lip brush and a powder brush for $15. If your interested in it or any other products feel free to contact me :D
Wear dark blue eyeliner/eyeshadow, yes they are a nd i dont know!

    Clean make up brushes?

I just ran out of mac brush cleaner and i was wondering if the was an alternative to clean my make up brushes.I havent got any baby shampoo either coz i no thts also a good cleaner.

    Any Ideas?

Thanks in advanceClean make up brushes?
I usually just fill up a coffee mug with hot water and mix in a little antibacterial soap or, if you have any on hand, Pert shampoo...it does wonders with my produces. It makes them smell amazing and they always end up so much softer after a quick wash with this particular shampoo...

But just regular antibacterial soap and warm water should do the trick. Just make sure, if you have MAC brushes or any other brush with a wooden handle, try not to get water where the metal plates meet the actual handle, it could cause the two to separate if water gets backed up until the handle.

If you need a quick-dry alternative too, try a quick spritz with bathroom-alcohol, it works great too.Clean make up brushes?
well actually soap ruins the bristles of the brush so just run it under warm water and pat dry or you can even buy some brush cleaners theyre realllllyyy awesome all you do is dip the brush in then you dry it up.

    Cleaning Make Up Brushes?

So im new at the whole ';cleaning'; Process.

Are you able to rinse them with water?

Are there any things to clean them with?

Yesterday I purchased Sephora's Brush Shampoo, and now that i think about it, Thats just a shampoo you use every now and then.Cleaning Make Up Brushes?
Most of the people are correct. I clean my brushes after each use because I do freelance work. I spray make-up cleanser on a white towel and brush the brushes until they show white. Never immerse your brushes in water because it will loosen the glue and make the hairs shed. Once a week put a little cleansing shampoo in a small amount of water in the face bowl. Swish the brushes in the water and store them handle up so the water doesn't run into the handle. Then put a little conditioner in the water next so that the hairs won't break and shed onto your face. Rinse them in clear water. Let them dry overnight laying flat and in the morning, they'll be dry and fresh and ready to use.Cleaning Make Up Brushes?
depending on how much you use your brushes you should probably wash them every week. yes you are able to rinse them with water. just get the brush wet, put a small dollop of the shampoo in your hand and rub the brush into it, and then rinse it out with water
i dont use anything cept a baby wipe

    it cleans pretty well

sometimes i rinse them under in the sink

What are fan make-up brushes for?

Brushes like this: http://www.thebrushcompany.com/store/c/3鈥?/a>What are fan make-up brushes for?
It's for applying really dark or pigmented blushes. It makes the blush look more sheer. What are fan make-up brushes for?
They work wonderfully for two things:

    1. applying a light, natural sweep of blush onto your cheeks

    2. brushing away eye-shadow fallout (i.e. little speck of eye shadow that sometimes get onto cheekbones or the under eye area)

Hope I helped, I love fan brushes!!!
To apply highlighter on top of cheekbones (They pick up a really small amount of pigment from the pan, so it is almost impossible to over apply product when you use these). They don't really work as well for blush because they do not blend as they apply, the bristles are too flimsy.

They also work amazingly well to get rid of fallout under your eyes without disturbing any other makeup (concealer etc.)!
its for putting on highlighter. if you have ever seen what not to wear carmandie always uses them for that. highlighter you put on you cheekbones and corners of the eye to catch the light. gives more definition im pretty sure
I dont really know, I think that its for putting blush on. I want one
putting makeup on...blush....just like a normal one

    Make up brushes? advice?

so i use maybeline loose powder mineral power foundation, so i use that brush, and i like it, but is there another brush i should use? thats better?Make up brushes? advice?
EcoTools brushes are great. The powder brush would be perfect for mineral foundation.Make up brushes? advice?
Do you use the brush that comes with it? Usually I don't like to use the brushes that come with makeup because they are very flat and difficult to blend the product on your face with.

You should try to use a fluffy powder brush, it will be easier for you to put on your powder. You can find a powder brush at Target or Ulta. Target has Sonia Kashuk's line of brushes and she has a powder brush for like under $10.

I want to wash my brushes or get new ones. First, how do you wash and dry the bushes? Second, where would be a good place to buy reasonably priced brushes that are good quality? The ones I have now scratch my face.Make-up brushes ?
Walgreens has a set of brushes called EcoTools made out of bamboo and they are the softest brushes I've ever used! They never lose the hairs when I clean them. They're not expensive, either! : )Make-up brushes ?

    I got that set^

For only 13 dollars idk why but its more expensive on the site but yeah its like 5 brushes but some have double heads but yeah pretty cheap

    Goodd luck!
ok to wash them, all you need is a gentle hand soap, and water. rub the soap into the brush, and if u want kind of scrub it on the palm of your hand. then rinse. if you just let them air dry, its fine. make sure there completely dry before using them again. look at a drugstore for new brushes. also, some really good quality brushes are from mary kay, but there more on the expensive side.
when i wash my brushes i wash them with boiled water and blow dry them but im sure this is the wrong way to wash and dry them, u can buy reasonably priced brushes at pharmecies as they wont scratch and are fairely cheap

    Make up brushes?

I bought some cheap Costco brushes a while ago, but now they're falling apart and the bristles are coming out. I decided to gradually replace them with Body Shop brushes. I currently have the foundation and concealer brushes. How do you wash them properly? I've been rubbing make up remover in them and then rinsing them off. How can I make them last as long as possible?Make up brushes?
    i wouldn't use makeup remover .

About every two days or so , i'd take some shampoo (any will be okay) then i'll get a small bowl ( easy for my brushes to soak) then i'd let them sit in warm water with shampoo in the water. After about 5 minutes of them soaking , i'd begin to softly rub the bristle . It's okay if the water is dirty , the brushes are getting cleaned.

To get rid of germs , i'd soak them in vinegar and water for about 5 mins after i've cleaned them .

You should use about a 1/2 cup of vinegar and 1/3 cup of water.

Please allow time for your brushes to dry when your down.

Make-up brushes....I dont want expensive ones!?

    Hey

I would love to know where I could get a good set of make-up brushes. I live in Coventry (UK) and don't want to shop online for them as I don't really trust internet shopping.

ThanksMake-up brushes....I dont want expensive ones!?
definatly try E.L.F. make up brushes, they are only 1.50!! I got some for my friend and she loves them, and if they arn't very good they are under 2 quid so not much money lost.

www.eyeslipsface.co.ukMake-up brushes....I dont want expensive ones!?
these are some tips to select good make ub brusher:

    Step

    1

Set the tone for your entire look by using the right foundation brush. Rather than using your fingertips or a sponge, apply liquid makeup evenly with a stiff and densely packed brush. Select a wide (about 1/2 inch), slightly angled brush for getting into the creases under your nose.

    Step

    2

Select a big brush for powder. Test the bristles by running your hand directly across the top. If bristles come out, you need to spend a little more money on a better-quality brush. Look for a powder brush made out of natural hair whenever possible.

    Step

    3

Get a big blush brush. Look for a brush with a slight angle, a flat head and a shorter handle than your powder brush. If you want to save money, select a blush that comes with its own brush. Be prepared to get less coverage from these smaller brushes.

    Step

    4

Find an eyeshadow brush. The right brush should have full, soft bristles with a head about the size of your index finger. Use this brush to sweep base color across your lids. Splurge and pick up a soft, pencil-shaped brush to apply eyeshadow to the crease of your eyelids.

    Step

    5

Buy an eyeliner brush. Select a thin brush with firm bristles and a flat head. The key to the eyeliner brush is firm bristles. If you want sharp, concise lines, you've got to find a brush with firm yet soft bristles.

    Step

    6

Get an angled eyebrow brush. Look for one that's roughly the size of your pinkie finger with moderately stiff bristles. Select a separate eyebrow comb for daily grooming and plucking purposes.

    Step

    7

Choose a portable, retractable lip brush with a head slightly larger than a pencil. Use it to even out lipstick applications and to smudge lip liner

Can you use luminess air, kett, temptu, Occ or any other air brush make up with Dinair?

I am thinking about purchasing a Dinair airbrushing kit but i like the colors that the other Airbrush companies have. So can i use their air brush make up? And is there a system that CAN use anyones Airbrush make? Can you use luminess air, kett, temptu, Occ or any other air brush make up with Dinair?
You can use any type of Airbrush Makeup with their compressor- the compressor has nothing to do with the type of makeup, unless you get the luminess compressor (its a low PSI compressor made to work with extremely thinned foundations aka Luminess foundations)

hope this helps! Can you use luminess air, kett, temptu, Occ or any other air brush make up with Dinair?
Dinair's make up is all water based so the passage way of the airbrush is very thin. Meaning you shouldn't put silicone makeup throught the brush. I guess you could try it but it would probably clog it. Most other makeup companies use silicone thinking that it ';covers better'; which is a false statement. silicone puts a layer of makeup over your skin closing your pores, rather than lightly putting little dots of makeup on your skin. It gives the same coverage and is great for your skin. I took a class with dinair and it made me understand all this. i rally like thier product. they have tons of colors and you can mix colors in the brush itself and make pretty much any shade of color you can think of.

i know this was long but i hope it helps.

if you do find a brush that does allow all makeup post it. that sounds like it would be cool..but i am just so stuck on Dinair i don't think i could switch.

How can i remove olive oil from my make-up brush?

i did the mistake to put olive oil on my foundation brush to remove some make up stains...

it did the job but now the bristles of my brush are oily.

is there a way to remove it or will i have to buy another?:How can i remove olive oil from my make-up brush?
    |If the bristles are synthetic or plastic and the brush is cheap enough, just buy a new one or, like the other reviewer suggested, a couple drops of Dawn and some warm water.

If the bristles are natural hair... well the only thing you can do really is wash it with your shampoo. This is how I clean my brushes once a month. I also condition them but I think the olive oil did that for you. If that doesn't get it all out... lather, rinse and repeat. If after two washes it's still not out, you may unfortunately have to buy another one. Too many vigorous washes to a natural hair brush will loosen the glue and destroy the lay of the hairs. How can i remove olive oil from my make-up brush?
I agree with the others , use Dawn dish soap, and hot water. This may take several times of rinse and repeat, but it should work. Also, dipping it in rubbing alcohol after the wash, may dry up residue.
Swish it in hot water with a few drops of Dawn dish soap in it,then dry with a paper towel.Keep doing this until all of the oil is gone, then let it dry.
Buy brush cleanser from MAC, it clean all the brushes.
miija, you like totally have to dip in oil again!!!!!fight oil with oil, that what my grandma always said

I want to get a full make-up brush set.

What's the best kind to get that's not too expensive?

I love MAC brushes but they're SO expensive. =[What's the best Make-up Brush Set to get?
i'm a painter, and an avid makeup user, so i have found out that with brushes you pay for what you get. MAC makes great brushes, and thats why they cost a lot. any other ones i would recommend (lise watier, clinique) all cost nearly the same. if you really can't spend it you could try going to an art supply store, they will often stock good makeup brushes, or be able to find you the right watercolour brushes that many people use for makeup. good luck and whatever you go with, remember to treat your brushes like your own hair, wash and condition them with a good brush soap made for that purpose! What's the best Make-up Brush Set to get?
The Body Shop comes with various brushes for foundation, eyeliners, eye shadows, lip liners, and so many more. You should give it a try as the material used to make them are very high in quality and glides on your face like a SILK.
ECOTOOLS brush set you can get it at riteaid, cvs, walgreens, and target. They come with blush, concealer, eyeshadow, angled liner, and brow n lash brushes! they are soo soft and eco-friendly seriously you should check them out.

N.Y.C brush set works good and its not expensive=)

How do you feel about Lumineres air brush make up Im thinking about getting it?

i bought it and i hate it although some of my customers are very fond of it but its usually the ones that never apply makeup.. but anyways i prefer for an airbrush makeup applicator let me adjust i think that it sprays out way to much.. and the makeup and air mix outside the gun and i think personally it makes the skin look pasty rather than natural

How do you feel about Lumineres air brush make up Im thinking about getting it?
I've seen that infomercial and it looks like a bunch of bologna. You'll have to plug it in, clean it, hook everything up, it takes up space, and it just sounds like a pain. Regular foundation works much better, from the looks of it. :PHow do you feel about Lumineres air brush make up Im thinking about getting it?
I think it looks really cool but im not sure how I would feel about air brushing my face...
why do you want to mess up what god gave you

Whats the best make up brush to use to tickle somebodys feet with?

Ladies, whats the best type of make up brush to tickle somebodys feet with? i look foward to getting some ideas :) Thank you and have a nice day :)Whats the best make up brush to use to tickle somebodys feet with?
An eyeliner brush is very thin with long, soft bristles. I would guess that's perfect for tickling. If you have thicker-soled girl, try an eyeshadow brush. And just a little tip, you might want to wash the brush before actually using it for cosmetic purposes afterwards. Good luck.Whats the best make up brush to use to tickle somebodys feet with?

Powder brush...greater surface area or a blush brush as the large area and angle would feel strange.

What can I use to clean the make up brush I use for foundation?

You can choose to purchase makeup bruch removers but I find that baby shampoo, as already previously mentioned, works very well; it is gentle enough to use on the bristles of your brush with no harsh chemical fillers, but is strong enough to remove the bacterial residue from your brush.

And also remember, the way you clean your brush is just as important as what you clean it with. Here are some key steps:

**Using lukewarm water, run your foundation brush under the tap with the bristles pointing in a slanted DOWNWARD fashion. Do not let the bristles point up under the water as this will damage them and cause the glue at the base to loosen.

**After the bristles are wet, squirt a small dollop of baby shampoo into the palm of your hand and dip your brush into the shampoo and gently stroke it through several times. Act as if you were dipping the brush into foundation, using the same gentle motion that you would use to apply it to your face. Do not SWIRL the brush as this will change the shape of your bristles, and instead ';stroke'; it through.

**Next, rinse it off under the lukewarm tap water and lay it dry on a clean piece of paper towel. Do not ever let it dry upright as this will cause the bristles to become loose.

**cLEAN your brush every 2 weeksWhat can I use to clean the make up brush I use for foundation?
Baby shampoo and water. What can I use to clean the make up brush I use for foundation?
    makeup remover or facial cleanser
    Shampoos usually work-
M.A.C has these brush cleaners that work really well don't just use soap it leaves all the bacteria still thats why you need to buy brush cleaners.
i wash all of my make up brushes with a gentle soap and water every few weeks.
I USE BABY WIPES AND/OR BABY WASH.

AFTERWARDS I APPLY ANTIBACTERIAL SANTIZER TO IT...SO I KNOW ALL THE BACTERIA IS OUT.

    THEN I AIR DRY IT
i have lancome foundation and their brush and i use their makup remover, they are wonderfull soap and water mix with oils in foundation an will not get the brush as clean! use a makeup remover, it will work to clean the brush alot better!
MILD SOAP AND WATER IS THE CHEAPEST. ALSO, MAC HAS A BRUSH CLEANER FOR ABOUT $25.00.
You can use some astringent. Go to walmart and buy some pure astringent and let your brushes soak overnight and then rinse thenm thouroughly. If u wanna just be simple soak them in boiled water and then rinse
soap and water or brush cleaner
This is the best: Dial Anti-Bacterial Hand Soap (its Orange). This is a very mild soap and it kills all the bacteria, unlike shampoo and vinegar etc. Work the soap into your brush for 20 seconds or so and rinse out with warm water, then do a shot of cold water to make the bristles of the brush lay flat (if real hair in brush, otherwise skip this step if its synthetic).

Lastly, make sure you only use a small dot of soap this way you are able to rinse it all out. If soap residue is left on the brush, it can cause breakouts when used on the face.

    Good Luck!
U Can mix 2 parts water and 1 part vinegar, then dip your brushes in the mixtures and rinse clean in warm water. This will clean and disinfect the brushes. Then let them air dry.
    brush cleaner
i use a brist brush and if you have a fan all you do it rub th brisles agenst it to make it clean not on it though but you could also you water and then let it air dry

Does anyone know how professional make-up artists steralize their brushes?

Not sure, but if you go to a make up counter at a mall or something where they give out free makeovers, ask them, and I'm sure they'd have an answerDoes anyone know how professional make-up artists steralize their brushes?
There's various sterilizing methods, but the best is to use alcohol (at least 90% strength) because it won't dry out brushes like soap and water will. There are also brush cleaners that you can buy, but they usually aren't any better than if you just use the alcohol.

How can i make my own make up brush brand?

i want a good company with good brushes.

im a trained beautician and thinking of opening a make up school to teach others locally. with this package i want to include a good brush set to start them off and for their keeps.

    BUT I WILL PREFER NATURALITY

    Ceaning my make up brushes?

How would I get dirt and everything out of make up brushes?Ceaning my make up brushes?
Buy some brush cleaner or use mildly soapy water %26amp; rinse. With brush cleaner you can just wet a bit of paper towel with it, and run your brush along it.

If using water, swish the brush around a little and run along a paper towel and repeat. Make sure you only wet the bristles and not soak the brush in the liquid, otherwise the glue inside the metal part will dissolve and your bristles will start falling out.

Run your brush along paper towel to dry them a little and then let your brushes dry naturally on their side and not upright.Ceaning my make up brushes?
soak the brushes in a container large enough for them to lay down, in a solution of OIL FREE make up remover (20%), purpose (or similar soap free facial cleanser) (20%) and water (40%) for 2 minutes, swishing the brushes around every 30 seconds or so - you will see the make up being lifted from the brushes (it can be a little scary, haha). do not soak more than 5 minutes!

next, put a small amount of cleanser in your hand, with a little water, and swirl the brush around gently. repeat this step until no large amounts of make up are coming out into the water. rinse with warm water (it can be messy....i take them in the shower with me!)

after you follow the above step for each brush, squeeze excess water and lie on layered paper towel.

re-fluff the brushes as much as possible while wet, and stand them up to dry (not up and down, just with the brush head slightly lifted.

when completely dry, re-fluff and your brushes are ready to use. this is the gentlest way to clean them and should give your brushes a long life.

i clean my brushes about every 2 weeks, but if you use them to re-apply throughout the day more oils and bacteria will build up, so you may want to do it more often!

    Hope this helps!!
    baby shampoo.

Currently, I'm using my facial cleanser, but that won't work for everyone. But baby shampoo is pretty much foolproof, and cheappp too.

My technique is that I wet the brush first, and then I wet my hands. I put a dime-to-nickel sized amount of shampoo into the palm of my hand; the bigger the brush, the more product I use.

Then I just swirl the brush around my wet hand and on the shampoo, until it lathers up. If I notice the lather changing a different colour, then I wash my hand off then do it again. I keep doing this until I don't see any more colour in my hand anymore. Then I can conclude that the brush is clean, lol. Then I just rinse the shampoo off my brush.

Afterwards, I just squeeze out the excess water with a paper towel. I also dampen a paper towel with some rubbing alcohol and dab it on the bristles, just to sanitize them. They I just lay them flat to dry, with the bristles over the edge of my counter so they don't dry a weird shape.

    Voila!! Clean brushes!
You simply wash them in a mild detergent and things ';sling'; as much water out of them as you can and then let them completely dry before using again. You should do this often.
apply a bit of shampoo to the palm of your hand.

swirl the brsh around under the water, but so the water isn't going against the grain of the hair.

then just let it dry overnight!
put about a dime size of shampoo in your palm, and then wet your brush and swirl it in your palm and then rinse, and let it air dry .
Just wash it out with normal shampoo, it works like a miracle!! :)
Use luke warm water, and a mild shampoo, like baby shampoo.

Put a dime size on your palm, and wet your brush, just wash it.

    Eh it's simple as 1, 2, 3.

There are millions of videos of how to clean your brushes on Youtube.
wash it with shampoo.. like you wash a hair...
These are the steps i do to make my brushes perfectly clean and germ free!

    1. Take a bit of olive oil onto a paper towel.

    2. Then take your brush and wipe it back and forth to remove and break up all that hard make up.( keep flipping over the paper towel and unfolding it to get to the unused sides.)

    3. Then take any soap or shampoo you have and run your brush under water to get the bristles wet.

    4. Swish the brush in the soap then keep rising off the soap nd adding clean soap to your hand until the water runs clear from any dirt or grim.

    5. ring out any water and lye the brushes flat on a towel not up right cuz then the water with get into the farrel then into the handle and the glue will losen up and break the brush.

Thanks! I hope this helps the olive oil will make your brushes softer! Cool Huh! I am looking forward to answering anymore of your questions!
At least one a week use a brush cleaner to clean and stand the up to air dry. If you don't have brush cleaner, baby shampoo and warm water work just as well

generally brushes that are made out of animal hair, pony, squirrel, goat etc.

if you want good quality inexpensive brushes however a brand called 'eco tools' are great and pretty affordable! these can be purchased in the uk; superdrug, boots and the us; walmart, cvs etc :)

ecotools Bamboo 5 Piece Brush Set. they're good and eco friendly :) u can get them at walgreens
Cheap alternative brushes! Elf brushes are all a dollar and brushes on coastalscents.com works great too! I wouldn't go crazy spending so much on brushes when you can use that money for makeup! =) Sonia kashuk has nice ones that u can find at target too!
This may sound obvious, but expensive ones. Try the Body Shop/Lancome/MAX Factor/Rimmel.
if your trying to be budget friendly walgreens has the best.. the ones with tan handles.. are really nice

Elf make-up brushes? are they good?

i was wondering what you guys thought of them. (people who have used them only please)Elf make-up brushes? are they good?
The studio line brushes are quite good, but they're $3 a piece (The Complexion brush is my favorite, it's very soft %26amp; fluffy)

The regular line's brushes are mediocre, the best one is probably the eyeshadow brush; that line has hits %26amp; misses, but it's only $1 so you can't expect much

http://makeupalley.com/product - this site is really good for reading about other people's experience w/ cosmetic products; I refer to this site all the time for products I'm not sure if I should buy, saves you a lot of money =]Elf make-up brushes? are they good?
I know the $1 brushes are probably too tempting to pass up, but from experience I don't think the quality is quite up to par. I would suggest coastal scents (www.coastalscents.com) They have a variety of good quality brushes for cheap (I don't think they have individual brushes for more than $10) and work just as good as some expensive professional brands. They also provide brushes that are made similar to MAC brushes. All the brushes I've bought are super soft and don't shed (maybe only 1 or 2 strands when you first wash them). The site is also secure to order from and they deliver quickly

If you don't want to order online, then I would suggest EcoTools (available at Walmart, Utla, and other select drug stores) These brushes are super soft and are environmentally friendly and sustainable. You can get a 5 piece set (blush, brow, liner, concealer, and shadow brushes that come in a cute cotton/hemp travel pouch) for about 12 dollars.

    Hope this helps!
Some are better than others. The flat eyeshadow brush is pretty great, but I don't recall much about the other ones.

Sigma makeup makes great cheap, long lasting, high quality brushes, and so does Coastal Scents. I love their Italian Badger brushes and their Synthetic line.
Some are pretty good, others are lower quality. It just depends on which ones you get. The sonia kashic (SP) line from target are better quality and aren't too bad on the price.

    Drugstore make up brushes?

Make up brushes from CVS, Wallgreens or even Target or Walmart - would you recommend? Brushes from MAC are really expensive, but you get what you pay for, right? Drugstore make up brushes?
    NO WAY!

i would get a midlevel brush set from sephora or ulta instead if mac is out of the budget. sure, they won't last as long as the mac brushes, but they'll give better results than that crap at the drug store

those cheap brushes are rough and irritate my skin. you can also get brushes that are animal-cruelty free there that also possess antibacterial qualities

once you use mac brushes, tho, you'll never go back because of the HUGE difference in qualityDrugstore make up brushes?
i go to my local CVS and get essence of beauty brushes. they come in different varieties but i just recently got a pack of a blush brush an eyeshadow brush and a bunch of different types of brushes. if you can find it on sale or at a drugstore it isn't too expensive, but with the different kinds they have they work really well for what you need them for and they're not necessarily as expensive as the name brand typed brushes.
i really like brushes from CVS. with some of them, like the one i got, was made from real horse hair, or something like that, and its good quality, for way less money than mac or sephora. i say, buy it, it works the same, and is really good. =)
yes, you will get what you pay for, but in my opinion it's not really worth it. the sonia kashuk line and the ecotools line (both from target) are really great. they're a good quality, they work really well, and they're a nice price range.
    Cvs brushes Esssence of Beauty

    Target Sonia Kashuk

I have both some brushes from both lines I will Buy Mac when Im can spend hundrands on them lol
MAC's brushes are the real deal and they are worth the money because with regular maintenance, those brushes can last for years and years.
they are good as long as they don't ';shed';...pull on the bristles and if they do not come out they are fine.

Cosmopolitan brushes are amazing. You can get them at Superdrug or Boots.
mac have fantastic brushes. yes they are expensive but they will last you a very long time if you take care of them.
www.sephora.com I'm sure they ship to the uk
i use pout brushes....they are a little pricey but i think brushes are an area well worth investing in....you only get one face...so you should use the best you can aford on it. they wash really well too. iv had mine over a year and they are as good as new.
The Body Shop does some brilliant high quality brushes, recommended by millions of people around the world. you'll love em!
    Body Shop brushes are great!
Victorias secret! I swear they are the best and they last forever. In the US they sell them for a complete set for $40. It might be cheaper in the UK.
MAC do ones that are used by the professional make up artists. So they are good quality
I use Sonia Kashuk brushes, she's international.

I apply liquid foundation with a MAKEUP SPONGE. Then loose powder with a POWDER BRUSH. Next I use a CONCEALER BRUSH to apply concealer and a FOUNDATION BRUSH to apply concealer powder around the eyes and I dust off the excess with the powder brush. I use an EYESHADOW BRUSH to apply eyeshadow all over the browbone area and the eyelid. Then I use an EYESHADER BRUSH to apply the eyeshadow in the crease and a little over the crease. I finish it off with an EYE BLENDER BRUSH to remove excess and to make the different shadow colors look more well-blended without harsh lines. I also use a foundation brush to apply the blush and blend it with the powder brush. I apply the lipstick and gloss with a LIP BRUSH. When I'm done I clean my brushes with Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes. I brush the brushes back and forth until the cloth runs clear. Then I rinse the brushes in cold water and pat them dry. That way my brushes are steril and I don't get infections. I actually get to keep my brushes longer before they need to be replaced.
    MAC cosmetics is the best...
I wouldn't buy super-cheap brushes, they just leave hairs all over your face!

Boots No. 7 are very good for a mid-price range, plus they have 3 for 2 on at the moment on No. 7.
    http://bodyandsoul.com/
Hi every where sells them, I think most of the time there all the same, it all depends on how much you want to pay for them. Some places you have to buy them seperately and others you get them in a set. You can get them from, Boots, Superdrug, ASDA, Tesco, The Body Shop, Be Never To Busy to be beautiful (online), Debenhams, Avon, Bodycare morrisons. Usually any where that sells make up sells brushes, its just if you want to pay for a name or make.

    Instead of make up brushes?

what else can i use? im kind of on a tight budget. would clean never used paint brushes work? they are decent brushes. what else could i use that works good?Instead of make up brushes?
Yes. as long as they are decent quality and clean and are similarily shaped to the makeup brushes then they work perfectly fine. in some cases they even work better! Try finding some good paint brushes at Michael's or any craft/art store.

For example i needed i good, small, rounded crease brush for eyeshadow.

The professional one was like 19 dollars and the paint one was 10. Bu it works better than the pro one!Instead of make up brushes?
Yeah Paint Brushes Are Absolutey Fine. If you have Q-tips those are good too. Also if you go to target and get facial sponges from (if you don't have any already) they're pretty cheap and work well. Do u already have make up brushes at home? Also use those for all things that they can be used for! If you go to target or walmart they have really good brushes for low prices! :) Hope this helped! Good Luck!

    -Michelle
well depending on what your using the brushes for. If its for Eyeshadow I don't think paint brushes would give the same effect but if your on a tight budget just use the little sponge applicators that comes with the eyeshadows.
    Maybe.

But e.l.f. has really good brushes, and they are only $1 each. For $12 you can own the whole set. I have all my brushes from there, they're really good.

just go to the drug store and buy what they have, most of the time, they are just as good as those that cost a fortune...i have some from CVS that are better than my MAC and other professional brushes, and i am a make up artist by trade. also, art shop brushes work for eye makeup very well, they are precise and made with the best materials, from animals and are pretty cheap...look in the art dept. at wal mart or somewhere, too.
Try avon products they are pretty good. and inexpensive
    Try Ebay

i read in a magazine once the best cheap brushes are at target by sonja something.

    Clean make up brushes?

what is the best way to clean and store my make up brushes?Clean make up brushes?
i use shampoo and conditioner on my makeup brushes. hold the brushes with the hair down and make sure they are positioned that way so the water doesn't go into the ferrule (the part that's connected to the handle). put a smidgen of shampoo on your palm and wash the brush ends like you would your hair. rinse. put a bit of conditioner, rinse again. dry your brushes horizontally on a towel.Clean make up brushes?
you may use household products like shampoo and conditioner:

Take your brushes and gently rub on a paper towel to remove excess product.

Rinse them under running water with the hair facing down and away from you so that the water doesn't run down the inside part of the brush.

Shampoo them with a mild shampoo or baby soap, rinse them still facing down and away from you.

Condition them, I like to keep them conditioning for 2 mins.

Rinse them again facing down and away from you.

Gently shape them back to original shape.

Lay them out on a paper towel to dry, never store them upright while they are wet because the water can go inside the brush and loosen the adhesives.

You can also buy a brush cleaner, pour a little bit into a bowl and dip and move around and blot on a paper towel.

The best way to store brushes is in a clean dry place away from dust and creepy crawlies. Take a cylindrical container with a lid or cover (pringles container, perfume container, a glass) My container is a sunglass sylinder that came free with the eyewear. It has a plastic screw on lid too. If not keep them in a box or its original leather case just away from dust keeping them in an upright position as to keep the original shape of the brushes.
I wash my make up brushes in a little bit of mild shampoo then put conditioner on them for a little while then rinse them and lie them flat leaving them to dry over night

Cleaning make up brushes?! help please :)?

I have some make up brushes that are getting kinda gross, but they cost a lot of money so i don't want to throw them away.

I feel like I want to soak them in rubbing alcohol, will it hurt them if I do it for five minutes?

    any other suggestions?

Thank youCleaning make up brushes?! help please :)?
Cleaning makeup brushes can be a hassle but it is necessary for them to remain in the best shape. With the following options available I know you will find one that works best for you.

Brush Cleaner: You can purchase a brush cleaner from a department store or beauty supply store. Ask the salespeople what their favorites are. My favorite is Japonesque Professional Brush Cleaner. It has a mild citrus smell and will clean all makeup, disinfect and conditions the hair of the brush as well. Just spray it on the brush and wipe clean with a towel or paper towel. The best part...the makeup brush is completely dry after you are done! It is perfect, especially when you don't have the time to wait for your brushes to dry.

Vinegar and Water: Use 2 parts water and 1 part vinegar, dip your brushes in the mixtures and rinse clean in warm water. This will disinfect your brushes so if multiple people use them, this is a great option over a brush cleaner.

For the following cleaning options I recommend putting the product into your hand, dipping the brush in a small amount of water and lathering the makeup brush thoroughly. Then rinse with warm water and lay flat on a towel to dry.

Shampoo: It doesn't really matter what kind of shampoo you use but shampoo works great for cleaning your makeup brushes. Remember, makeup brushes are hair and shampoo works great on yours, right? When I have the time, this is the option I use.

Facial Cleanser: A gentle cleanser works well for cleaning your makeup brushes. If it will remove the makeup from your face, it will remove the makeup from your brush.

How often should you clean your makeup brushes? It depends on the brush. Any brush you use on a liquid cosmetic should be cleaned everyday; such as, concealer, foundation, lip products and cream eye shadow. For other brushes I would recommend as often as once a week or at the least every two weeks.Cleaning make up brushes?! help please :)?
You can easily clean them in good antibacerial soap and water. just rub the brush to make sure u get the make up out real good, and let them air dry.
I personally have a goat hair blender that cost me a lot of money.

    1. Run the end of the brush under water for a couple of seconds.

    2. Add just a little bit of soap to the brush and gently blend in the soap

3.Wash out the soap by gently rubbing the brush until you think all the soap is gone

    4. Let it air dry on a small towel(only takes about 1-2 hours...)

    Hope that helps!

there are some excellent suggestions on this page -- number one is by far the best and most detailed so far. here are a few things to add:

    1. please NEVER use rubbing alcohol on a makeup brush. it will most certainly damage the bristles. which would be a shame, since it sounds like yours are high quality.

    2. antibacterial soap is totally unnecessary. a simple lathering facial cleanser or mild shampoo will do a beautiful job. what you do with it... is just wash it like you'd wash your hair:

    ~wet brush

~use enough of the cleanser to create a pretty good lather (but not too much!)

    ~rinse

just be thorough, yet gentle. make sure to rinse well! after you're done, GENTLY squeeze out the excess water and re-shape the bristles.

    3. NEVER dry your brushes with the bristles pointing up -- this could enable water to enter the ferrule (the metal part) and dissolve the glue, causing the brush to shed. also, could introduce mold growth inside the ferrule). the best way is to dry them with the bristles hanging off a flat surface (like hanging in mid-air off the edge of a desk), so that nothing touches them at all. or you could tie rubber bands around the handles and hang them (bristles downward) from a hook or something similar. again, with nothing touching the bristles -- that could contaminate your freshly-cleaned bristles, or introduce mold growth.

    good luck... and happy cleaning!
wash them in liquid soap or shampoo.them to sterilise them dip them in surgical spirits, rinse then lie them flat to air dry.
Either use hand soap or shampoo and soak them in water, and your right, they can be very espensive. Don't let them sit too long
Use shampoo don't keep them in too long
MAC makes a fabulous brush cleaner. It is pretty cheap (under 10 dollars) and it will last forever
    Hi,

The best way to clean make up brushes is to let them soak in warm soapy water and then leave them to dry. Im not sure if alcohol will do anything to them. They might smell after and could go hard?

    Hope this has helped.
You must wash them once a week using some mild hand soap or shampoo. Then fold a towel and let them sit on the towel to dry over night. Once they dry, they will be as good as new! Good luck!
Don't fall for buying the expensive cleaners. I always clean my brushed at least twice a week with a very small amount of shampoo, rinse and then I add a very small amount of conditioner and rinse. It works every time.
