Is there anything you can use to make dried up paint brushes soft again?

I use paint remover/strpper, not linseed oil, paint thinner or laquer thinner, real honest to goodness paint stripper. Let the brush soak overnight, then clean it with mineral spirits, after this soak it in a liquid fabric softener such as 'Downy' overnight. Then clean it with household dish detergent. While saoking in the paint stripper and the 'Downy' make sure to agitate the brush so the product gets through the bristles. This is alot of work so you might be better off buying a new brushIs there anything you can use to make dried up paint brushes soft again?
yes, you have to let them sit over night in a liquid called ';paint thinner';Is there anything you can use to make dried up paint brushes soft again?
its not worth the effort unless u have a whole lot of brushes. its just as cost effective to buy new brushes. for latex paint there is a product u can buy just about anywhere including walmart that is specifically a paint brush cleaner. it is about 5 bucks. for ten bucks u can buy a very good brand new brush.i use it on my brushes at the end of the summer when the painting season is over for me to get all the gunk out that has accumulated. i dont think a dried up brush will ever be up to par again. for the cheap, u can buy brushes at big lots. altho they are not super quality, for the most part they are decent.
If you soak the paintbrushes in water mixed with a drop or two of oil, that generally helps. I use brushes with synthetic hair and that helps me.

I think it depends on the brush.
well they've got you covered on that...but in the future if you are done for the day and going to continue the next day throw the brush in a ziplock and toss it in the fridge...then it wont dry out
It would be really helpful to know what kind of paint is in the brush. An oil base would require a soak in turpentine to release the paint...an acrylic base would require a soak in Pine Sol or some other heavy duty cleaner...but be prepared that the brushes might be a loss. It is possible to clean a smaller brush with a lot of patience but a big brush like for house painting can be a total loss if too much paint is left in the tool for too long. Good luck.
