Step 1:

Washing

Wash once a week in a bowl of warm soapy water or brush cleaner. This will remove traces of make-up and care for the brush so the bristles don't fall out.

Step 2:

Drying

Rinse off excess water and leave the brushes to dry flat. Never leave them to dry upright or near a radiator as this may cause the glue to come away. Rinse and store your powder puffs in the same way.

Step 3:

Storage

Keep your brushes separate from your make-up to keep them clean and hygienic. What is the best way to clean make-up brushes?
The best way is to boil the kettle, let it cool for about 5 minutes, then pour the water into the sink. I wouldn't recommend soap, as it can stick to the brush, and the residue will show up on your skin when you use your brushes later. Just warm water should be fine.

You can also buy solutions developed especially for cleaning make-up brushes.

I always use Dawn Antibacterial dish detergent. it' will disolve and remove any make-up that's on your brushes, and it kills bacteria too! =)
What I do is I use warm water and baby shampoo, like Johnson-Johnson... It works great!

Smashbox makes a wonderful brush cleaner spray. It's very easy to use and works GREAT!!
you are supposed to wash them with warm water and the same cleanser you use on your face so as not to have produt interactions
High-scale make-up stores sell brush soap, but personally I just use a good anti-bacterial pump soap that I use to wash my hands. It smells really good and works well for me. Just keep ';shampooing'; the brushes and rinsing until the water runs clear.
