I've recently spent a small fortune on some quality brushes, and wonder how to properly clean them and keep them in good condition? I know most say with soap and water, but soap can be harsh and drying? How do I properly take care of my make-up brushes?
You can use a mild shampoo (johnson and johnson) or go buy a brush shampoo (from sephora, MAC, etc, I use the Bare Escentuals brush cleaner ';well cared for';).
at least once a month take all your burshes and gently shampoo them, making sure to get all the makeup out (makeup residue can build up at the base of the bristles). Squeeze out excess water and reshape the brush heads. Place them on a towel or paper towel FLAT to dry them over night. Never let them dry standing up.How do I properly take care of my make-up brushes?
For my personal brushes, I wash them once a month in baby shampoo - sometime conditioner too. Squeeze lots of water out, then roll up a towel into a long roll and prop the handles up so the bristles are facing down. If you dry them bristles up, the glue will eventually break down and your brushes will be ruined. It will take at least 12 hours to dry. For synthetic brushes used for cream products, I usually just dip them in brush cleaner after I use them. I like Cinema Secrets cleaner http://professionalsecrets.stores.yahoo.鈥?/a> it is good stuff, better than the retail products out here.

my friend is a make-up artist and she swears by washing them in jhonsons baby shampoo, not too ofter just when they get a little grubby. Hope this helps :)
u should buy some brush cleanser to probably clean but u can also use baby wash or any non drying soap to clean ur brushes to save money
wash your brushes once a week in cold water and any kind of johnson's soap, preferably baby shampoo or baby oil. dry using a blow dryer because if u lay it out on a towel the hairs will get flaky and might fall of.
johnson %26amp; johnson soap
wash them every month
Wash them in a mild shampoo-such as baby/kids shampoo
