I would suggest investing in a good full face/powder brush, a good blush brush and a good eye shadow brush to start out with if you are just looking for your self. If you want to get into cosmetology i would recommend investing in some good professional brushes in this case. What kind of make up brushes should people have?
My must have eye brushes are:
-The 217 blending brush... If you can only buy one brush, this is it.
-The 222 tapered crease brush. Use this to apply the shadow in your creases, not to blend. You use the 217 after this brush.
-The 239 shader brush to apply shadow to your lid
-The 266 small angle brush is not exactly a must have for most people but it's definitely nice. You can use it for filling your brows, applying gel eyeliner or shadow/liner to your lower lids.
Face brushes:
116 blush brush- To apply your blush with, of course!
134 large powder brush- Apply powder and powder foundation with this
189 face brush- To apply liquid foundation with.
And of course a brush cleaner!
Remember, you don't have to buy them all, I just selected a few for you. If you're gonna get two, get the 222 and the 217... ESPECIALLY the 217. I can't stress how important that brush is enough!
Good luck
There are upwards of 50 different types of brushes you can use for makeup application.
But for people doing their own daily makeup, here are the brushes needed:
Powder
Blush
makeup sponges
Shadow brush
Shadow crease brush
angled liner brush
lip brush
eyelash curler
If you are looking to have a fuller kit or for makeup artistry, add brushes like highlight bushes, contour brush, fan brush, fluff brushes, smudge brush, lash wand, liquid liner brush, lash separators, lip liner brush, sponges, foundation brush... in fact check Sephora.com for a list of brushes they sell for daily use and professional MUA use.
Good luck!
