not as good as mac, but look like very good quality to me

How frequent should i clean make-up brushes?

You should clean brushes that touch liquid makeup such as foundation or concealer every day, because these makeups have a tendency to produce bacteria faster than powder makeups. Brushes that touch dry makeup such as eyeshadow or bronzer should be cleaned once a week. A youtube video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44-Ayaz80鈥?/a> shows you how to properly clean your brushes. How frequent should i clean make-up brushes?
Depends on how much you use it and where you leave them. I usually clean mine every 2 weeks. I clean them with a tiny bit of shampoo. Remember only a tiny bit because the first time I cleaned mine I used to much and I ruined mine. I think every 2 weeks will be good. I hope this helped! How frequent should i clean make-up brushes?
About once a week or so. I just started bare minerals, and soaked the brushes in warm water and a little bit of anti-bacterial hand soap. Rinsed well, let them air dry. When I used them this morning, they were super-soft.
I have heard once a week. However, I hate the way that makeup brushes feel once they have been cleaned! I try to do it at least once every couple of weeks.
every use its better for your skin

What's the best way to cleam make up brushes?

I take mine to the bathroom sink and use mild hand soap. I wash them with warm water until the water runs clear and then I shake the excess water out and let it air dry. There are also cleaning kits out there, but this was recommended on one of those nifty makeover shows so I do it this way. What's the best way to cleam make up brushes?
just wash w/ soap and water and towel dry it, by squeezing the bristles, then let it air dryWhat's the best way to cleam make up brushes?
Warm water and mild soap. Air dry.
They sell makeup brush cleaner in stores. Or you can use a anti-bacterial hand soap and water... just make sure u rinse out the soap well, and let the brushed air dry.
I like to clean my brushes with a very mild shampoo and a little conditioner. Soak in warm water with shampoo and conditioner and rinse thoroughly until water is clear. Make sure that you re-shape the brush with your fingers and air-dry in a cup to avoid crushing the bristles. Do this once a month.

For eyes, blush...stuff like that...thanks :)Which make-up brushes are best for application?
I usually use Q-tips on my eyes just because I have so many colors.. Other than that I use something like this for brow bone and lid color:

I recently bought a blendy brush that is a little fluffier than in the picture and the makeup artist told me that it can be used to do the entire face in foundation and blush and pretty much everything else.

    Eyes

I just use three brushes and I'm fine.

You can get a blending brush from Sephora which is good for blending (hence the name of the brush) and just applying eyeshadow to the eye. An eyeliner brush is good for liquid eyeliners. I use mine to apply eyeshadow there though. A small all over shadow brush can be sued for anything I guess. Highlighting your brow whatever, the smaller areas.

A giant powder brush is good enough for applying both powder and blush in my opinon
I like Trish McEvoy. So pricey though. Sonia Kashuk is not bad and her brushes are cheap.
ecotools have a very reasonable pricetag and does a good job :)

Not sure about Avon. There is a really pretty set down at Target. Here's the link: http://www.target.com/Sonia-Kashuk-Hidde鈥?/a>

One of my make-up brushes has hard bristles, how can I make them softer?

any homemade way??One of my make-up brushes has hard bristles, how can I make them softer?
It really depends. Some make up brushes are fairly hard to begin with and it's hard to make them softer. This is generally with blusher, powder or bronzer brushes, I find. My Chanel one is quite hard.

Firstly, you need to decide whether the brush is meant to be hard or if it wasn't. If it was meant to be that way, it would have been fairly hard when you brought it. If it was designed to be a hard brush, there really isn't too much you can do, except buy a new one that isn't as hard.

If it wasn't hard when you purchased it, have you taken proper care of your brush? If you are referring to a foundation brush being hard, it is most likely it was through neglect of washing it regularly enough and making sure it was clean. Your brushes should be cleaned with a soft cleanser or shampoo at least once a week then left to dry naturally. If you don't do this then the brushes will become clogged with makeup, which leads to them being quite hard. Unfortunately, the longer you leave it the harder it becomes to fix, and if you have done this with a foundation brush, you've probably ruined it and need to get a new one as they don't go back to normal after not being looked after. Try giving your brushes a good wash and see if that helps.

If that doesn't help then you may need to buy some new brushes... take care to make sure you find a soft one to begin with (Nars, Bobbi Brown and Prescriptives are very good), then wash them once a week to ensure they stay nice. One of my make-up brushes has hard bristles, how can I make them softer?
i no this one!..baby shampoo is really mild and will soften yur brushes.. wash them out afterwards and let them air dry.

i do that and mine are really soft!
No, you can't,. Shampoo won't work either...
Make sure it's been washed a few times and air dryed. Should soften it up. Use shampoo to wash your brush. Good luck :)
The best thing is to wash it and air dry/ blow dry it.

Which make up brushes to get?

I am after some make up brushes. i am on a budget, so please no expensive ones!!

i wondered which ones are essential as well? I have seen a 21 piece set on ebay which looks pretty good, but not sure i would use all of them!!!

Also, what is better, synthetic or natural bristles? i will be using it for every day make up.

    Many thanks,

Katkins xxWhich make up brushes to get?
You will never use all 21 pieces, there are only four brushes you really need.

    1. A foundation brush- if you want extra coverage of your foundation, you really need a brush to apply it. It is more hygienic (if you keep the brushes clean) than using your fingers.

    2. A bronzer brush - the bigger the better! The bigger it is, the more even the coverage. You can use this for bronzer powder on your body or compact bronzer on your face. Don't confuse this with a blusher brush.

3 A blusher brush -you need this to apply blush. If you use a bronzer brush to apply blush you won't get any definition and will look like a clown ;) It looks a bit like a bronzer brush but is smaller.

4 Eyeshadow brush - this is a very small brush used to blend eyeshadow after you use a sponge applicator (you will need that also if you don't have one, but it isn't really a brush so I won't include it)

Thats all! Some other things you might need is a sponge eyeshadow applicator, an eyebrow comb, etc.

Don't be fooled into buying a set. They will usually be cheap bristles and will have little effect and the bristles will come off on your face which is really annoying.

Always get natural bristles. The brand I use is Millie and Ruby, They are brilliant, very easy to keep clean, quite cheap, and not one bristle has fallen out. Buy them seperately, but expect to pay around 鈧?0 on average for each, they aren't cheap, and if they are, then you'll get what you pay for.

    Hope this helps!

    -Claudia

PS like the others said, MAC really is the best brand, but they are a lot dearer. I have both Mac and Millie and Ruby, and I find them both as good as each other. Just a tip!Which make up brushes to get?
I have bought Makeup brush sets on eBay and the quality of the brushes are hit or miss. The ones I purchased shed and after washing never felt as soft as they once did.

When it comes to synthetic or natural bristles it depends on what you are using the brush for. e.g I think pigments, liquid foundation and lipstick is better applied with a synthetic brush.

Whereas I think natural bristles are better for powder and eyeshadows.

I suggest you try the New E.L.F Studio brushes are great and only 拢3.50 per brush or 拢35.00 for the full set of 10. They are made of Taklon and are so soft.

Where can i find cheap make up brushes?

Go to Elf. I think the web is elf.com but I'm not sure. They are known for their great brushes. And the best part is they only cost 1 dollar. People have even compared their brushes to mac brushes.Where can i find cheap make up brushes?
There's many options... you can either go to target or walmart... local drug stores (ie: cvs, rite aid, walgreens)

    OR

You could go to an art supply store and purchase painting brushes believe it or not. I go to Micheals for some of my brushes. And they're soooooo affordable. I have a blush brush that I bought and works WONDERFULLY and only paid 3 bucks!! as opposed to 25 for a M.A.C brush... they are the Lowe Cornelle Maxine Mop - series... you can use every single one in that line series for your powder, your foundation application, your eyeshadow and even contouring... :)

I am also a great fan of NYX cosmetic brushes... they're affordable and should be sold anywhere they sell NYX eyeshadowsWhere can i find cheap make up brushes?
E.L.F. has some really good cheap brushes. They don't have that many different kinds, but the ones they have are all you really need.
i got this set at target called eco-tools or something like that.

$12 and i think it came with e/s, angled brush, powder brush, concealer, brow/lash comb and a little handy wrap thing.

    plus they're really soft :)

    good luck
    target, walmart, sally beauty supply
Go to CVS. They sell a brand there that has a cream-colored handle and black bristles, and they are very good. I use them every day. The most expensive one is ten bucks. I'm sorry I can't remember the brand name, but they are easy to find.
OH! I found really good ones at Marshalls

What are the best make up brushes to buy? PLEASE?

in my area we don't have a MAC, elf, Nars.

    all we have is

    urban decay

    benefit

    too faced

    clinique

    body shop

    etc....

so i was wondering what brand sells the best brushes

    thank you :D

xxxxWhat are the best make up brushes to buy? PLEASE?
I have different brushes from all the brands you've mentioned except too faced.

The Body Shop ones are by far the best quality - they're not as pretty as some of the other ones but the eyeshadow brushes and the blusher brush are fantastic and they wash really well. Mine have lasted years. They're quite expensive so i recomend you just invest in a decent blusher brush (if you use it) and a larger eyeshadow brush from the body shop.

Benefit are also pretty good - especially for precision if you're looking for an eyeliner brush. They wash really well too.

The stuff i have from urban decay and the small amount i have from Clinique have never really lived up to the price compared to the Body shop. Not quite as long-lasting or easy to use (for me.)

I have a really good small-ish eyeshadow brush from Boots which only cost about 拢3. It's not very precise but it blends really well.

I've also got a great little eyeshadow brush from matalan which was dirt cheap. You've got to be careful though, i know some of the larger brushes from cheap stores tend to smell of hair after you wash them and the hairs often fall out if you use them in a liquid foundation or cream eyeshadow. What are the best make up brushes to buy? PLEASE?
either sephora or Clinique... i use clinique brushes and they work very well. the come in many different sizes and they are very soft.... and im kind of biased because my cousin works for clinique but you also get really good gift with purchases with clinique
Hi in my opinion and experience synthetic brushes are far much better than so called 'natural hair' brushes because a) natural hair brushes start to scratch your skin after a while b) theres less risk of transferring bacteria from animal hair to your skin. I would suggest you go for either Too Faced brushes - esp. their Teddy Bear Hair brushes check out their website: http://www.toofaced.com/category_templat鈥?/a> I bought my set from ebay.

Their kabuki brush is unbelievably soft. You can buy it from www.hqhair.com or asos.com. Also you can pick up Eco Tools brushes from Superdrug %26amp; Tesco's, again their synthetic brushes and cruelty free.

Urban Decay's brushes are also recommended their cruelty free as well as body shops. Visit a body shop and test out the brushes before you buy. In my opinion their pricey but you can always pick up a bargain from ebay. HTH.
    people buy elf online

%26amp; i think its shipped worldwide

%26amp; urban decay eyeshadow is really good %26amp; the eyeshadow primer potion %26amp;%26amp;%26amp; the eyeliner is amazing

I agree with Olivia. Sephora brushes come in an array of different types, and you're sure to find something to suit you just right. They might be a bit pricey though, but I suppose that depends on your budget.

i'm not sure in the UK but honestly eye brushes at the drugstore should be pretty danged decent. Even ELF brushes (eyeslipsface.co.uk) are really soft and good (just the eye brushes, not hte face brushes). If you have ECO-TOOLS that's a good brand and those brushes are so amazing I honestly love how soft they are!

dont get the metal or wood part

wet, it will ruin the glue stuck to the bristles.
    1) Remove excess color from the brush with a tissue

    2) Run brush under water just long enough to dampen the hairs.

    3) Place a small amount of gentle shampoo onto the palm of your hand and swirl the dampened brush in your palm for a few moments

    4) Place the brush under warm running water with brush hairs facing down. Gently queeze the clean brush hairs until the water runs clear

    5) Squeeze the clean brush hairs to remove any excess water

    6) Avoid soaking the brush or allowing too much water to run into the ferrule (the barrel of the brush), which will break down the glue and loosen the hairs of the brush.

    7) Lay brushes flat, or with bristles at a slight downward angle, on a paper or cotton towel to dry overnight.
I use face wash-cetaphil, the same thing I use on my face.

yes, especially if they are made of real animal hair!

If you use expensive make up brushes it's a good idea to invest in a good conditioning brush cleanser. Don't use face wash on natural hair brushes, imagine what it would do to your own hair! If you are in a bind for something to wash them with, you can always use your own hair shampoo. Baby shampoo is also a good alternative.
oh yes, time to get some new ones! I prefer beaver, they last longest, are the smoothest, and give you a move even layer

yes it is, but not from growing. lol. its from using them so often. this means its time for new ones or they make special cleaning stuff for them but you probably will have to get new ones soon.
Yes its very possible you should get new ones.
Yes, this is possible. I would recommend soaking them in your sink with a dash of conditioner (I know it sounds silly, but it works) If that doesn't help I would get a new set. You could be using them too often. good luck.
possible.. time to get new ones :p

Are Mac Make-up brushes made in France?

Not necessarily. Some companies manufacture in several different countries. But it could also be a fake. Contact the company and ask them. Are Mac Make-up brushes made in France?
I just found out from my make-up artist, make-up consaultant and a toxications doctor said that MAC is not good for your skin. There are many metals in their powders so it can cause you skin cancer. I used to love MAC and I even made a whole wishlist but when I found out, I was devastated. Good luck.
They are made everywhere, it's not because it was made from Japan that it's a fake nor from France it's a real one. It just depends where you are. The same brand of jean you buy in the states could come from the states but here in france it could be made from the uk just depending on the closest factory

How do u clean good make up brushes???(pout)?

Warm water and a mild detergent. How do u clean good make up brushes???(pout)?
Take each brush and run it under warm water, then apply a small amount of shampoo - you might want to use baby shampoo as this is extra sensitive, and gently rub until you have a soft lather. After a few minutes, run each brush under the cold tap and rub the bristles to get rid of the soap. When the water runs clear and isn't coloured from makeup, then you know the brushes are clean.

In order to avoid the bristles going hard and having nasty growth from water residue, you should leave them to dry for at least 24 hours, preferably by the sink or a place where the air can get at them. Always let them air dry, never just pat them with a towel and try to use them immediately afterwards. How do u clean good make up brushes???(pout)?
Same answer as Melanie D - I have Mac %26amp; Bobbi Brown brushes and they cost a small fortune, so I use special brush cleaners and let them dry naturally. Failing that, use a very mild solution of warm water and tiny amount of liquid soap, then let them dry naturally.
Mix lukewarm water with a drop of your chosen cleanser and swish it. Swish your brush through the foamy water and then dump the water out. Keep making a new mix and swishing the brush through it until the water no longer gets discolored. Rinse the brush gently under softly flowing water. It is also ok to swish the brush through plain water in a separate cup. If the brush is thick, gently squeeze it between a folded lint-free cloth. Place the brush on a level surface to air dry, making sure the bristles hang freely over the edge, hope i helped x
get sum really hot water and sweezy soap (the runny stuff) and mix it together if you have a metal handle soak it in for about 15 mins and empty da water out and rinse it until there is no dicolouration in the wtaer if you have a wooden handle try just rinsing it with runny soap and lukewarm water
If I were you I would buy MAC cosmetics brush cleanser, it costs 拢9.00 but is really worth it, your brushes will last a long time, and there is a lot of product and the brushes will dry VERY quickly.

Or otherwise a cheaper option is to use Johnson's baby shampoo with luke warm water, gently and leave to dry.

Leave them to soak in warm water with either a mild shampoo or soap. Fabric softener will make them smell really nice and soft as well :)

If you want clean makeup sponges put them in the washing machine ;)
Clean them with fresh warm water and then use a hair dryer to dry clean. Thats what my GF does and it works great for hers. Good Luck.
hot water and liquid soap. make sure you form the bristles before you left them dry.

swish them around in the sink with some sahmpoo not saop and leave them to dry flat on a towel
I clean mine with warm water and mild soap or baby shampoo.
I either use mac's brush cleaner or i use dish soap or any other soap that i have. and let them dry overnight
Just use cold water %26amp; gentle shampoo. Let them air dry.
warm water and mild soap.. rub gent;y then rinse .. and let dry

Are animals maimed/harmed in making MAC make-up/cosmetic brushes?

I just bought make-up brushes from MAC, and I got the white ones that are made of goat hair (I think). They are quite expensive, but are of really good quality. I didn't think about whether they were cruelty-free or not when I got them, but now I wanna know, because if they are then I won't buy any more of their brushes in the future. Are animals maimed/harmed in making MAC make-up/cosmetic brushes?
I had a look at several sites after googling mac make up brushes and it seems that they do use animal hair for the, one of the main ones that kept coming up was squirrel hair.

PETA have a website that will tell you all the products that are totally cruelty free

How do i clean make up brushes at home?

I used to use warm water and some mild washing up liquid. Immerse the brushes and using your fingers wash out the bristles

Then leave them on radiator to dry. However now a use a fantastic product called ';BRUSH OFF'; which is an anti bacterial brush cleaner. You just spray on to tissue and wipe your brushes, they are clean in seconds and dry out immediately, as it evaporates in to the air. However this is quite expensive, I think it cost me 拢25 for 16oz bottle. But if your interested in finding out more about it try ';ellisons.co.uk';. I have also seen other brush cleaners at different cosmetic counters in department stores. But have to say ';BRUSH OFF'; is the best I've had. But as I said before Warm water and detergent works just as well but it was just a pain for me aiting on my brushes drying as I use them on clients every day.How do i clean make up brushes at home?
treat them as your hair, shampoo condition then brush then leave to dry.How do i clean make up brushes at home?
In boots/superdrug theres this solution u can buy that u use to clean the bruses with warm water - altho iv been told shampoo works as well...
non perfumed antibacterial liquid hand soap. Air dry
    Shampoo.
under the tap and leave on a radiator seems to work for me
Shampoo and then a bit of conditioner to keep them soft! Dry with a hairdryer if necessary. PS I'm assuming that you're using natural bristles!
Warm water, a mild soap either hand soap or shampoo works great for me. I just let them air dry
Warm water and mild soap. Then blow dry them to fluff them back up, but only half way. Then fix the bristols with your fingers the way they should be, then stand them in a cup near a window or under a almp to finish dring. If its a big fluffy brush, blow dry is completely...
    using water
Soak them in conditioner or hand soap for a couple of hours and then rinse them out and leave them to dry. Use a blowdryer to dry them if you need to use them before they've air dried.
What u need to do is go to a professional beauty shop like screen face in notting hill gate,London and there u will find a whole load of products. You can also wash them with a bit of soap and water and leave it to dry.
Well, how do you wash makeup off of your skin? Do the same for your brushes. Fill a bowl or container with makeup removers and warm, soap water. Put the brushes in there, and let them sit for about one hour, or if they're really dirty, for one day. This should do it. Good luck!
With warm water and soap. Leave on a towel to dry.
Soak them in warm mildly soapy water for just a little while then air dry them hanging upside down. Make sure they dry completely otherwise they can grow bacteria.
Hi just soak them in make up remover in a cup, but if you dont have any just was them with showergel or soap and rise them out throughly and then leave them to dry. Simple.
warm water and shampoo and leave to dry in the airing cupboard
I am amazed at some of these answers and solutions. not one of them has mentioned antibacterial. you can use a antibacterial hand wash or washup liquid. you must always clean your brushes after every use as they collect bacteria within hours, especially mascara brushes.
baby shampoo and leave them to dry flat
You can wash your brushes with a mild face soap and water. Thoroughly rinse out all the soap, gently smooth brush back to its original shape, place it on a washcloth or a papertowel and allow it to dry. After it dries, just fluff it a little before using it and it should be good to go.
i dunno ive always wondered too.good question
first rinse them with warm water, then put some soap in yr hand and clean the brush by rubbing it in yr hand, then rinse again with warm water till the water is clear....hang with bristles down to dry so they dry straight
In between I use ';Well Cared For'; by Bare Escentuals, I do this about once a month, maybe more, maybe less, depending on the month and what I have going on. It is a super product. I take a comb and gently work it in a bit more, be super gentle though!! Rinse well, and let them dry flat.

    Hope this helps!!

Which are the best ever make-up brushes?

I want to invest in just THEE best make up brushes... Suggestions??Which are the best ever make-up brushes?
i don't think brushes need to be the absolute best. i think investing in makeup is a better choice. but my favorite brand of brushes to use is ecotools, they're pretty cheap and are quality made and 100% recyclable, so they're awesome for the environment!

there's a sale at ulta right now (6/30 - 7/4), ecotool brushes are buy 1 get 1 free. so check it out.

(i should get 10 dollars from ulta for endorsement).Which are the best ever make-up brushes?
    1. Sephora's Professionnel Platinum Powder Brush #50. Used for any kind of powder, be it matte or loose, it gives a really smooth, airbrushed finish. The bristles are really soft, I've never had a problem with them shedding, and the bristles are coated in an anti-bacterial, so you have to clean your brush less often, which is always nice.

    2. Sephora's Professionnel Platinum Bronzer Brush #48. I use this for bronzer and blush, and the size and shape allow for perfect application of both. Again, soft bristles and no shedding. Also, since the bristles are white, it's easy to see how much product is on the brush, which allows you to easily control your application.

    3. Sephora's Professionnel Platinum Natural Medium Eyeshadow Brush #14. This brush is the perfect size and can be used for any kind of eyeshadow application, from all-over lid color, to highlighter, to the cresase. It applies shadow smoothly and evenly. You can also use it wet or dry.
MAC cosmetics has good onces. but so does ECO tools. eco tools are much cheaper, too and work the same!
    i love dior!!

    and bodyshop!!

    and ruby and millie :D

Crown brushes are good and you can buy them in sets! Only available online as far as i know though.

I want good quality make up brushes?

can anyone recommend and specific brands?? i love the mac brushes but wanted to see if there was anything else people recommended.I want good quality make up brushes?
I would suggest a Japonesque brush. I have the Japonesque Travel-size Powder brush, and I love it. The only reason I bought the travel size was because it was cheaper, and it's supposed to be smaller than the regular-sized one....I don't know, mine is pretty big anyways, but it's small enough to fit in my makeup bag.

The powder brush is made out of squirrel hair, and it's really soft. It holds the powder makeup really well, and distributes it evenly over my face.

If you get a brush, you HAVE to make sure you clean it. Clinique has a really good cleaner called Clinique Makeup Brush Cleanser. It costs about $12.50 for a pretty big bottle. If you clean your brushes at least once a month, they will last for a very long time.

The Japonesque powder brush I got at ULTA, but you can also buy them at Trade Secret, Nordstrom, Planet Beauty, etc. The travel-sized brush I bought was about $26, and the regular-sized one was a little more than that. Also, if you request a catalog from ULTA, or pick up their ad in the store, the ads usually have $3.50 off a $10 or more purchase, which is handy when you're spending about $30 on a brush. :)I want good quality make up brushes?
You can also try Sephora or YSl makeup brushes. With proper care, they'll last for a very long time.
Yep sonia k brushes are good and oh so cheap. Also, lots of lines have special makeup sets for Christmas right now which can be a good deal. Some of my best brushes came from the art supply store!! Remember to take care of them and they will last a lifetime.

i've heard the sonia kashuk @ target brushes are pretty good also.... they always advertise them in allure and instyle mags.

    chanel
The best brushes I found is at Bee Luscious Cosmetics they have an awesome kit with 12 professional brushes made of real sable and goats hair, fantastic quality I highly recommend it .
bare minerals,, and i agree, chanel is an awesoem place to get any makeup, including brushes, there makeup is the best, its the only stuff i use
I have makeup brushes from Victoria's Secret. I could never go back to using those little things that come in eyeshadow again. I love my brushes and they are really affordable. You can get the online or in the stores that carry the beauty products.

  • How do you clean your make up brushes/eye shawdow brushes?

Use baby shampoo and swirl them around gently, and just leave them on a windowsill to dry naturally,

Hope this helps :)How do you clean your make up brushes/eye shawdow brushes?
well you can buy makeup brush cleaners, but an alternative that i like to do is:

Take a kleenex and pour some liquid makeup remover on it. Take a makeup brush and rub it into the kleenex until the brush gets clean. Definitely try this =) I always do this with my brushes and it works.

    Hope i helped :)

-Jessica%26lt;3How do you clean your make up brushes/eye shawdow brushes?
there is like a million videos on youtube.

    1. wet the brush

    2. put some baby shampoo in your hand and mix it with water to get it sudsy

    3. gently swirl the brush in the soap and water.

    4. rinse and dry flat

*never tip the brush upside down because it can cause the brush to fall apart.
I normally use MAC brush cleanser which is about $12.00 CAD. For some that can be kinda pricey and not worth it. I also use something as simple as a gentle baby shampoo for a deep clean, MAC brush cleanser is more for a quick cleanup.
I clean my MAC brushes with baby shampoo. It works awesome and it keeps the brushes really soft. Make sure to reshape the brushes before they dry or they'll be stuck in the form they were dried in.
this is what i do %26amp; i use suave aloe shampoo

What are the best CHEAP make-up brushes?

I want some decent make-up brushes that will get the job done, but isn't going to cost my life savings... any help? What are the best CHEAP make-up brushes?
If you want cheap, get-the-job-done makeup brushes, Sonia Kashuk are the best deal for you. I have all of their makeup brushes and I can assure you that they are the same or better quality than the professional brushes that you find in Sephora or Macy's. I do happen to apply makeup and have used an extensive selection of different brushes. Sonia Kashuk's brush collection has all the brushes you need to create that desired look and you can find them at any Target retailer. What are the best CHEAP make-up brushes?
The Everyday Minerals makeup (www.everydayminerals.com) have really cheap and soft brushes.Their foundation brush is only $6,and is super soft. The only bad thing is that you have to order them online and that they don't have a wide selection.I also recomment the kabuki brushes.
there are a few brushes every woman should have: concealer, powder, blush, flat shadow, and eye crease/contour. these are essential to a basic face, and some can double usage. additionally, you can get foundation, lip, eyeliner, mascara wand or fan, eye shader, eye smudger, etc.

if price is an issue, try palladio brushes from sally beauty supply. they are $7-17 each, and last forever. i have a flat shadow brush from this line that has never lost a bristle.

sona kashuk at target is also highly recommended... she is a professional makeup artist that made a cosmetic line that is affordable for everyone.

for a starter set, mark by avon has a mini set they sell all year long that is $19 for concealer, lip, eyeliner, shadow, and blush.

merle norman stores have full-size sets out of 5 of their most popular brushes and a brush cleaner for $29.

stila at sephora has nice brushes. some of them are dual-ended, so you get more for your money. they have a nice eye duo brush for $30, with a dense contour and smudger.

for foundation brushes, i actually have one from avon that has done well for years now. lancome has a great one, but it is pricey.

be sure to clean your brushes regularly with brush cleanser or mild shampoo.
go to www.eyeslipsface.com, they have good quality brushes for really cheap!

How do you clean make up brushes?

i have a blusha brush so its quite big and i mostly use it for appiling power it was a black brush now its not any cleaning tips on how i should clean itHow do you clean make up brushes?
I just clean my brushed w/ warm water. and leave it out to dry. no need in buy extra things waste of $$.How do you clean make up brushes?
i soak mine in warm soapy water at least once a week and then let them air dry when they're dry they automatically reshape
I was always told hot water and soap, but when I tried that it ruined my brushes.Paul Mitchell makes a brush cleaner with anti-bactiera that washes clean and preserves the brush.I think it about 15 dollars.I need to get some because all I hear is good reviews about it.So from what I have herd I would suggest that.
with make up brush cleanser....you should do this once a week
Soak them in rubbing alcohol. brush on towel re soak again in clean alcohol. rub on towel again. reshape brush and air dry standing up ( brush side up) in glass or container.
I use my face wash to wash out my brushes. I have Dove handsoap (it's more mild), sometimes I use that. I just wash them in the sink, and squeeze the water out, like down the bristles, so they won't fray, and let them air dry on a paper towel.

10points: How do YOU clean your make-up brushes?

Thanx10points: How do YOU clean your make-up brushes?
I fill the bathroom sink with warm (not too warm) water and swish some baby shampoo in it. Then I put my brushes in and swirl them around until they are clean. Then I run each brush under running water to make sure they are totally clean and rinsed. Then I gently press out the extra water with a clean washcloth and lay them flat on another clean washcloth to dry overnight. Sometimes I use hair conditioner on them too, since mine are natural hair. It makes them extra soft, and the makeup goes on more smoothly and evenly after using the conditioner. Just make sure you rinse the conditioner out thoroughly.10points: How do YOU clean your make-up brushes?
I let them soak in very warm water for a few minutes. Then I start to rub the bristles together with my fingers under running warm water and with a body soap bar. When I get too much color on my fingers, I rinse the brush with warm water and I rub the bristles carefully with soap again and I keep repeating the process until the water comes out clean.

Right after I wash them, I comb the bristles very lightly with a brush and then I let them air dry on their own. Once they are dry you can just shake the brush and slap it a couple of times on your hand so that it restores its shape.
I use Bare Minerals Well Cared For conditioning brush cleanser. I put a few drops in a clean bowl or glass, fill with warm water, and mix it up with a brush. I then let my brushes soak for at least an hour. I then point the bristles down towards the drain and then gently rinse them with clean water and squeeze out all excess. I then let the bristles hang over the edge of the counter and lay the brush handles flat, letting them dry at least overnight, if not longer for my fluffier brushes.
I use spendier brushes too, so I understand your desire to keep them in good shape. I have found that the best way to clean them is actually pretty inexpensive. I just cleaned my Kibuki brush from Bobbie Brown this way two days ago and am totally impressed with how rejuvenated and soft it seems, no more loose hairs etc...

I bought some Castille soap, diluted it with water and put the mixture in a hand soap type pump. I got my brush wet first with plain water under the tap, gently squeezed it out, put a few pumps of the Castille soap on and made circular motions with my brush on the palm of my other hand, rinse and repeat many times till the water runs relatively clear. The great thing about Castille soap is that it won't destroy the proteins in the bristles...it is the same soap they use to give newborns their first baths or when they give bed baths in the hospital. It's so gentle that you don't even have to rinse it off when you use it as a body soap.

The website is kinda cheesy, but it shows you what the bottles of Castille soap look like. You can find this brand in almost any grocery store. I buy the almond scent because the scent is so soft and sweet. A small container of the liquid is only $2.50
I put a small amount of shampoo on the palm of my hand and then dip the brush in and run it under warm water and swirl the brush around on my palm (or fingers) until the water is clean. It only takes a minute and if you make sure to do it every couple of weeks your brushes will last forever. I bought my brushes from MAC in Aug. 2003 and they are still in great condition.
Use brush cleaner, such as M.A.C. or Clinique, and spray it onto the brush, swirl the bristles around in your hand, get it wet with water, spray more cleaner on it, then continue to do the same thing until it seems clean. Rinse all the soap out and straighten out the bristles and put it out to dry over night. You can use a mild shampoo instead of brush cleaner.
Run the bristles of the makeup brush under warm running water.

Apply a small amount of shampoo to bristles and work into a light lather.

Rinse bristles thoroughly under running water. You will notice that the water leaving the brush is tinted from old makeup.

Continue rinsing until no color leaves the brush.

    Allow it to air-dry.
get MAC's brush cleaning solution, it's around 10 bucks or so. put some on a clean paper towel and gently sweep your brushes back and forth. make sure you don't do it roughly cos the first time I cleaned my 224, it got all frizzy! pinch the brush tip to make it back to its regular shape and let your brushes air dry and it'll be good to go
    best way

    take a mild soap

just w/e you wash your hands with and wash them with soap and water until the make up is off them

try not to mess up the bristles too much

to dry them let them sit out over night on your counter

    but!!! (this is key)

let the half of the brush that has the bristles on it hang over

this prevents the wood that connects the bristles to handle from rotting
    in water

    fill your sink with water

brush the brush on the side of your sink as if you were painting something

keep the bristles together mnake sure they don't go all crazy in different ways or your brush won't last

when done washing squeeze the water out smoothing the make up brush hair with your hand making it all go in the same direction

    and let it dry!
with eye make-up remover or you can buy make-up brush cleaner.

cheaper alternative - shampoo mixed in warm water, rinse leave to dry, never leave them sitting in the water, the paint peels and cracks.
you can buy brush cleaner at sephora but it is a bit expensive. just get a container and put warm (not hot or cold) water and a little soap just bush them around and stuff untill you dont see crud soming off. change water often and between brushes!
    here's what i do

Take a clean plastic cup in just put a little makeup remover(don't use too much because you don't want to waste it.)

put a dab of mild soap in

fill the cup half way with water. Gently rub and swish your brush in it ,leave to soak for a couple seconds.

Take the brush out rinse it under the faucet make sure to get all the soap out .

gently dry with a clean washrag or Kleenex ..Leave to dry on that for a while.

    hope i helped!

I use Bare Escentuals Well Cared For It gets rid of makeup from your brushes that no soap and water can. Its amazing how much comes off. I wash it with that and then I let it air dry. It dries in an hour or two. It makes your brushes so soft and nice, much better then when you bought them!
Most of the time i throw them away. I do have a few that i cant throw away and i boil them in hot water or put them in peroxicide to disinfect them since there are so many different types of bacteria in make brushes and etc....
first swirl them in soapy water then dry with a cotton ball tissue leaves crumbs in ur brushes repeat this till ur brushes are clear then dip in alcohol to insure cleanliness squeeze access liquid out with cotton balls press dry with thumb and index finger, hint hint i sometimes blowdry mines.
Well if you're willing to spend some money on taking care of your brushes and spend some money you may wanna try Clinique Makeup Brush Cleaner.
weird, but i heard a very mild shampoo works really well, like baby shampoo. I used dove on mine, but it kinda stunk for a while..it's ok now tho, i was gonna try the baby shampoo next.
Clarifying shampoo and water, until the water runs clean.
soap and water until when I push the brush against the sink, the water comes out clear, and then I set them on a towel in the bathroom and let them air dry over night
    apple cider vinegar and water.
i use baby shampoo for my mac brushes. i scrub them gently in the palm of my hand and then rinse and let dry.

i clean them with water, and sometimes a little bit of soap
I clean mine with warm water and soap. About evEry week.

How do u clean make up brushes?

??How do u clean make up brushes?
I clean my brushes once a week, using this method:

-Wet the bristles in lukewarm water (hot water may damage them or make them less adhesive to the handle, and cold water isn't as cleansing)

-Use 1 pump of Dial Antibacterial Foaming Hand Soap for each brush, making sure to get all of the bristles. I do this to get more bacteria off of the bristles.

    -Rinse

-Use a dime sized amount of baby shampoo or cheap dollar store shampoo PER BRUSH.

    -Rinse

I also deep condition my kabuki brush. It's just like deep conditioning one's hair-wash it with the steps listed above, then apply a deep conditioning agent to the bristles. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes then rinse.

I let the brushes dry on a towel, making sure to keep the bristles in the shape that I want them to dry in.How do u clean make up brushes?
the whole process that everyone mentioned is conditioning, when you wash it with water and soap and oil if they mentioned is what it means to conditioned your brush! so i guess u prob didnt know that even though everyone else mentioned it, makeup remover is a daily, the other methods are conditionin Report Abuse

you can use brush cleaner from mac like other people have said, clinique has one as well as sally beauty, i dotn really like the sally beauty one but here is a video on youtube that u can check out, its easy to do and really simple, the video like she is going to say u wanna do once a week and once a week only, but u should use the brush cleaner after every use, im not gonna lie sometimes i skip because i dont have time to wait for my brushes to dry but if u skip once or twice it wont be too bad unless u are using completely different colors because old color residue will affect how the color shows on your face

Run the brush under warm water, then lather the bristles with some shampoo/cleanser. Rinse the brush until the water coming off it runs clear.

    Good luck!
Call me old fashioned, but I just use soap...lol. But there are brands that make brush cleaners like MAC. Me, I just swirl the brush on some olive oil soap and rinse repeatedly. Seems to get the job done :) And it hasnt ruined any of my brushes yet ^_^
i just use warm water and a tiny bit of soap-then dry them as much as possible with a towel and let them sit out to dry on the towel..i'm not sure if that's the right way but it has always worked for me.
i just take warm water and face wash, swirl it around and rinse till the brush runs clean, then i set it out to dry. Works like magic.
You can shampoo them or I know MAC sells brush cleaners.
I use my face wash. I figure it'll do the job in getting rid of all the bacteria I don't want on my face anyways.

    All eyeshadow make up brushes?

theres so many. which one is a necessity for a girl who loves eye shadow?

a know about a crease brush and a smudge brush..what else? All eyeshadow make up brushes?
i think every girl needs in general other than eyeshadow a foundation brush and blush brush contouring brush then for eyeshadow an eyeshadow brush a crease brush and a blending brush if you want somthing not as expensive as somthing like mac the go to costal scents they have really good brushes that are really well priced

    http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/鈥?/a>All eyeshadow make up brushes?
here are the necessity brushes to apply make-up

    # Foundation brush. With cream or powder foundation, a foundation brush is key. It gives better and more natural blending than a sponge, and also allows for better control.

    # Blush brush. A light touch and an excellent brush is absolutely necessary with blush.

    # Brow brush. This stiff, spiral and wiry brush is used to catch the hard-to-move hairs of your eyebrows.

    # Crease brush. The slightly flared shape of this brush makes it ideal for filling in the crease of your eye with shadow.

    # Lid brush. These come in either flat-head or a rounded-head styles. The brush should be about 1/2 an inch wide and very flat.

    # Kohl blender: With a good eyeliner Kohl pencil, you also need a stiff, conical foam blending brush. Run it over the line and the color will blend out--and as a bonus, any stray marks will fade in.

    # Concealer brush. If you have a blemish or dark circles that you would prefer be covered up, apply your concealer after your foundation. It helps it set and blend better.

this is one of my fav brushes ever, I use it ALL the time with my applications.

';Professionnel All Over Shadow Brush - Large #21

    What it is:

This brush applies shadow to the entire lid, evenly.

    What it does:

    The wide shape and condensed, evenly distributed bristles make sure that your whole lid is uniformly covered in just a couple strokes. The thicker handle gives you more control as well. It's a must-have for applying any base color effortlessly.';

I sometimes just end up starting inexpensive and trying out several types. Do what fits your situation and Im sure your instinct will be best.Question about make up brushes?
Either one would be fine really, but to prevent streaking you can either pat your foundation on with the foundation brush or go up and down all over your face with it, then go back and apply from left to right. Good luck!
liquid u would need to use the foundation brush and the kabuki is more for finishing powder or powder foundation the foundation brush might leave streaks but u buff it out with ur fingers or a blending sponge. remember dont use a sponge to apply ur make up but to lightly blend cuz a sponge soaks up all ur make up and u run out fast.
i love essence of beauty brushes theyre the best.....sometimes using the brushes does leave streaks just use a sponge to blend it well
you can just stick to applyign your foundation as you normally would and skip out on the foundation brush.but my brushes have left streaks and to make it blend better i use a kabuki or just run my clean hands over it to smooth it out.
try sonia kashuk brushes exclusively at target. trust me- their good. :]
I never use liquid with my brushes. I only use mineral makeup such as Smooth Minerals from AVON. The mineral powder make up doesn't smear and stays put longer. Check it out.

Do you girls know about all the fake MAC make-up brushes being sold??

I wanted to purchase these make-up brushes on ebay but I

m not sure if they're authetic, they're travel sized and would be perfect for a collection. But I'm having doubts?

Ehh the 187 looks a little dodgy. But that's a great kit of brushes, if they're real, what a great deal!

But it says ';No refunds'; on it and I think there may be a reason for that...Do you girls know about all the fake MAC make-up brushes being sold??
Those are real. You can usually tell if they're real or not by the price. Mac brushes are expensive, but the travel size brushes are cheaper. They work just as well though. Hope I helped!

Mark or Ulta make up brushes?

Which powder or blush brush would you recommend? Would mark or ulta really compare to brushes such as m.a.c. or other high end make up companies?

Has anyone used both a m.a.c. and mark brush --- what do you think?

I know mark brushes are fairly cheap but are they like drugstore brushes or more like high-end makeup brushes?

Are ulta and mark even comparable and which do you like more?Mark or Ulta make up brushes?
mark...Mark or Ulta make up brushes?
mark.'s brushes are great. Plus they have a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

They range in price from $5-8. They are all real hair brushes, not synthetic like most drugstore brands.

I especially love their great little set called Go With the Pro mini brush kit. It costs $15 and includes a Powder, concealor, eye liner, eye shadow, and lip color brush all in a portable case.

I just love all the products mark. has to offer, so I would definitely go with them.
actually there is this company called costalscents that have brushes that are similar to mac quality but at a fraction of the cost! I have mac and they are good but very expensive about 20-30 and up to 60 a piece!
Mark has some good brushes! they are better then drug store brushes and cost about the same!!! heres a link
Well I shop at Ulta alot and have their brushes. They work really well and give great coverage. Sometimes the most expensive brands are not of the best quality.
Ulta. Their brushes work very well.

    Can you clean make-up brushes?

I just had pink eye and used my makeup brushes is there anyway to clean them? Can you clean make-up brushes?
use normal shampoo and disinfect it with something that has alcohol in it like perfume. then it will smell good to.

    :)Can you clean make-up brushes?
since it was pink eye i would buy new ones, and you need to replace your mascara,

you can wash them - with baby soap or with makeup cleanser - m.a.c sells some but i wouldn't do that for pink eye issue

your supposed to clean brushes regulary
If they are good quality, use HOT water and soak the brushes in it for 5 minutes, take out and massage baby shampoo into the brushes, rinse with hot water and you should be set.
yup, purchase a cleaner from m.a.c.

I'm just sorting out my make-up brushes and I've found two of which that I don't what they are.

One is a small sponge in a semi-circle shape, that i suppose could be a miniature make-up sponge with a handle, but I'm not sure. And the other is a small brush that is perfectly round with a flat top.

Thanks xWhat are these make-up brushes?
small spongy one could be a foundation or concealer brush. the other one could be for eye make up. but it could be either for eye shadow or smudge one. What are these make-up brushes?
I think the sponge one is a eyeliner blending one as foundation brushes have bristles
The sponge one sounds like a foundation one.

The other one could be an eyeshadow brush.

    sponge = foundation.

small brush = eye makeup one!

    or maybe a blusher brush?

I bought MAC make up and brushes, how do I know if they are real?

I want to know if this is illegal and can I get the people who sold this in trouble?

Please answer if you really know the answer? Maybe someone who really has knowledge...I bought MAC make up and brushes, how do I know if they are real?
If they are new and cheap they are fake. I have bought a few dirt cheap fakes and have been happy with the quality. I would never buy fake make up though.

You cant really get them into trouble unless you get MAC to take action or have the ability to prove it yourself. If its EBAY then forget it, they dont want to know. and MAC are reluctant to take action. Try for your money back.

EDIT. If you get your money back then you should leave it at that. These sellers have your name and address and you just dont know who you are dealing with.I bought MAC make up and brushes, how do I know if they are real?
It sounds bad however it's not illegal to sell a fake productto people who choose to purchase them, about 4 years ago when I was 15 I went to Seattle and right on the side of the road they're selling fake Louis Vuittons, Coach and Dooney %26amp; Bourke bags; if this was genuinely something THEY could get in trouble for they wouldn't have had a huge stand with tons of people purchasing fakes with the public watching. If you didn't do the research and choose to purchase these products they will look at it as your fault, however trying to get your money back may be something worth while. Let them know you are not happy with your purchased product and that you would like your money back, unless they've stated they do not accept returns..You should be entitled.
you really should just buy them at the MAC store instead

because most of the time, they are fake.

i can't really tell whether they're fake but

If i could only pick 4 make-up brushes, which ones should i get?

in orderr of importance [for mee]:

    foundation/cover-upp brush [to cover imperfectionss.]

blush/powder brush [to blend in blushh and powder.]

eyebrow brush [uh. just to make eyebrows look nicee. rofl.]

eyeshadow [to blend eyeshadow in withh.]

personally, i don't like lip brushes.

when i apply lipstick, i patt it in with my finger. it usually stays on longerr that way. and for lipgloss, they usually have a wand [unless it's a pot gloss. again, i just use my fingerr.]If i could only pick 4 make-up brushes, which ones should i get?
    A big one for powder

    A smaller one for blush

An even smaller one for eyeshadows

A liner for really cool eye effects.

Those would be my picks and I think I could do a lot with them.If i could only pick 4 make-up brushes, which ones should i get?
i actually had this dilemma... a concealer brush is absolutely necessary if you have dark circles (if not, substitute with a good angled crease brush for eye shadow); powder/blush brush (you can use 1 for both if you wipe it off really good), a smudge brush so you can get the 'smokey eye' look, and a small to medium eyeshadow brush (not the angled one).
One for blush, one for face powder, eye shadow brush %26amp; eye brow brush.
    Easy!

    a big, round blusher brush

an eyeliner brush (for cake eyeliner- blends better with shadow)

    one slanted eyeshadow brush

and one regular (full fan) eyeshadow brush!

These are all four brushes that I use every day!
One for blush, one for eye shadow, one for lip gloss, and one for powder.
    2 for eyes ,1 cheeks,1 lips
one for blush, one for eyeshadow, one for cover up and another for a toner

Yes, it's safe.Is it safe to clean mascara brushes? also, any other make-up brushes?
i clean mine with face wash. you get that near your eyes every time you clean anyhow right? it's fine.

or you can also use a make up remover. or vaseline...

but face wash is something you probably already own and is inexpensive.

i actually keep an old clean brush that doesn't have a bottle to use with my regular mascara. i either wipe it from the makeupy brush onto the clean one or i just clean up my lashes after using the new brush. :)
just make sure you clean them really. For your mascara brush just buy a new one it's kind of risky for an eye infection!

What at home products can i use to clean make-up brushes?

Dove sensitive skin soap. What at home products can i use to clean make-up brushes?
i think almost everyone uses at home products to clean their brushes, lol.

just use your favorite shampoo to clean, rinse, and use a towel to straighten all the brushes, and squeeze excess water out, then lay to dry.

i use baby shampoo because it's more gentle, but any shampoo will work. What at home products can i use to clean make-up brushes?
I use make up remover and then i like drench them with conditioner and let them sit overnight then there are nice and soft:)
You can use Baby Shampoo just make sure you buy one without conditioners or fragrance. Try the original Johnson and Johnsons no more tears formula. I personally use and anti-bacterial hand soap. I try to use an all natural one. From trader Joe's or Whole Foods. It's good at getting all the nasty stuff out. especially if you use a liquid Make-Up. Place a small amount (the size of a dime) in the palm of your hand. Run your brush under the warm water and swirl it into the soap until it lathers then move on to the next brush. Once all your brushes are coated go back and massage the later into each brush rinse and wring out then lay flat on a paper towel over night to dry. Never leave them standing up to dry or submerge them in water. It loosens the glue that holds the bristles in place. Hope this helps. Most companies make a brush shampoo. If you were to buy one I like Bare Escentuals Well Cared for. It works the best and I have tried them all from M.A.C. to Chanel. Good luck girl and remember take care of your brushes and they will last for years. Here is a link. But try the hand soap. It works wonders.

Soap and water. Thoroughly clean the brush before you go to bed with Luke warm water and soap. Let them sit out and dry.

*make sure that you squeeze access water out of brushes after rinsing!!
Dont use soap and water - it will make the bristles of your brush dry and spikey. Instead use make-up remover and then wash.
Just use shampoo. When I take a shower, I just bring my brushes in with me and shampoo them while I'm in there. Squeeze out excess water and lay on a paper towel and let them dry.

Whats the most effective way of cleaning make up brushes?

tipsss %26amp; tricks on what to clean with/how and how to reduce drying time please? thanksss :]Whats the most effective way of cleaning make up brushes?
If you want a quick clean, use a brush cleanser or baby wipe. If using brush cleanser, pour a little onto a towel and light rub the brushes onto the wet part. They will dry fairly quickly. If you are using a baby wipe, do the same process except for pouring on brush cleanser. For a deep clean, use a mild baby soap, such a Johnson. Pour a small ammount onto your wet palm and a little more vigorously scrub the brush in your hand. Thoroughly rinse and let air dry. To help the bristles retain their shape, wrap them in toilet paper while wet to help them not to dry all weird. I would quickly clean your brush after every other time you use it. If you do this, you should deep clean them once every one to two weeks, depending on how often you use it. I hope this helped.%26lt;3Whats the most effective way of cleaning make up brushes?
The best way to clean makeup brushes and keep them lasting for a long time is to at the very least clean them once a month.

A good and also very cheap product for this is baby shampoo. Put a small dab of it on your palm, gently wet your brush in cool water, and swirl it softly in the shampoo until it's thoroughly cleaned. Then rinse it out, reshape it with your fingers, and lay it flat to dry, either on a clean towel or off the edge of a dresser or table.

Make sure not to stand the brush up so that water drips down the handle and metal bit that holds the hairs. This will cause the glue to break down over time causing the brush to fall off the handle.

    MAC also makes a good brush cleaner. ';This one product will clean, disinfect and condition the brush fibers so that brushes will last longer. It is convenient to use and is specifically designed to extend the life of high quality brushes. Brush Cleanser leaves your brushes smelling fresh and clean, and helps shorten their drying time.';

I use baby shampoo most of the time and occasionally then every month or two I follow up with the MAC cleaner afterward to make sure the brushes are very clean and disinfected.

    I hope this helped! :)
I soak mine in hot water/ivory liquid mixture for 15 min. or so, swirling them around occassionally. Then I rinse well with warm water, towel dry and shape, then let set handle side down in a glass to air dry completely.
gently wash them with shampoo and air dry keep a fan in the room, but NOT directly next to them
dawn dish soap (kind with bleach) scrub scrub scrub and lotz of hot water. squeeze in Towel .....shake...... squeeze in towel....... shake and air dry!!

it works for me hope it helps you some!!!!

MAC and Lancome are the best - but wait for a holiday sale so you can get the gift packs. it's like 5 brushes for $40.
It depends on what you like, but there's synthetic, which is fake hair, and then of course, there's brushes that are made of goat hair, and other sorts of hair. For brushes, I'd suggest MAC, but they are quite pricey. I'd also really suggest brushes from www.coastalscents.com . They are VERY good quality, and very affordable.
Well a nice, good quality make-up brush should be made of boar hair, its very soft and smoothes on nicely. A good brand is AVON, thats where i got mine from, there great!!

    Hope i could help :)
go to sepohora.com and look at brushes.. personally i like the sephora brush set that have like 7 brush for about 60.. it's not bad for prices and soft too... also if you like synthetic hair.. try too faced teddy bear brush set.. it's around 60... i have mine for bout two year now.. still loving them
I don't really know much about brushes and I don't own too many either. I know the fake hair ones are kind of harsher on the skin than the real hair ones because they are a lot softer and lasts longer too. I buy my brushes at Kohl's or at Target, they work fine for me and are very affordable. Sometimes at Kohl's, they have cosmetics sale and you can get a blush brush for probably $7. Mac is expensive for my taste and most brushes probably are all alike anyway, it just depends on the size and the type of hair is has.

  • What are the different kinds of make up brushes and what are each of them used for?

    Hello,

There are all KINDS of brushes. Many of them are unnecessary. Use what works for YOU. I will tell you briefly what works for me:

    1. Foundation Brush. This is typically the most expensive brush in a set because it looks like a tiny paint brush and is very smooth. Don't spend more than $20. It is better than sponges in application of liquid makeup and gives a very smooth finish and good coverage control.

    2. Blush brush. This is roughly 1.5 inches wide, round and tapering, with very very soft bristles.

    3. Powder brush. For contouring and highlighting, I use two different shades of powder, so I have at least two brushes. It's best if the brushes are angled with one slim end for the creases on your face. This should be about 1.5-2 inches wide.

    4. Finishing brush: This is often used to dust loose powder and stuff off the finished canvas. It's the largest of all brushes, about 2.5 inches wide and round in shape and profile. Very soft bristles.

    5. Eyeliner brush: very short, tight bristles and square shaped. very very slim and angled, and about 1/4 inch wide. This brush is used to wet and dip into dark powders for lining the eye...works great.

    6. Shadow contour brush. This is also 1/4 inch wide, but is round and very soft and pliable, at least twice the length of an eyeliner brush.

    7. Lip brush. Very important for blending the lipliner/lipstick without creating lines. It's very thin and tapers to just a few bristles at the end. Alternately, the shape of an eyeliner brush is also workable. It is very very stiff and fairly short. A good lip brush has no stray bristles, is very stiff, and appears like one smooth tapering form. I like the retractable ones.

    8. Eyebrow/marscara brush: any old full shaped mascara brushes work for this. You can get them for free at a MAC counter.

Finally, I do not think you need to spend hundreds of dollars on a good brush set. I have several brands and the cheapest one I own is sephora and it works great as long as I wash them routinely.

    How to clean make-up brushes?

How often are you supposed to clean your make-up brushes and how?

I've tried rinsing them off in hot water but it made them smell weird.

Help pleasee. How to clean make-up brushes?
Use an anti-bacterial soap. Don't use hot water anymore, use cold. I think when you use hot water, it warms up the glue that holds the bristles of your brush. That makes the bristles move around easier and fall out.How to clean make-up brushes?
I would clean your foundation/concealer brush at least every 2 days but I would go for every night just because the foundation might get crusty on the brush. Haha.

I'd say to clean the powder brushes every other week depending on where they are. If you keep your brushes in your bathroom or on your vanity then yeah, but if you carry them with you in your purse or something then every few days or so.

I get some liquid face wash, I use Neutrogena Makeup Remover + Cleanser, and squirt a little in my hand. Then I get my brush and start mixing the hairs around in it. I turn on the water and then put my hand and the brush under the water and start gently rubbing the soapy brush back and fourth in my palm to get all the powder or foundation, or whatever, out of the brush hairs.

Then after everything is out of it I gently rub it a few times back and fourth on a paper towel to get any excess water out of it and then let it be to dry.

Also, never hold the brush hair directly under the faucet because the water will seep into the place that holds the brush hairs and that will cause them to eventually fall out. So hold it with the handle of the brush facing the faucet and the brush hairs facing the sink.
I clean them everyday with MAC brush cleanser (I'm a freak, I know lol) but once or twice a week is probably enough.

Does anybody know of a good way to wash make up brushes from Bare Escentuals without ruining them.?

Use baby shampoo. Mix a little baby shampoo in some warm water and swish the brush until it is clean. Then swish in clean water several times to make sure all the soap is out. Blot gently, don't squeeze with paper towels. Put handle down in a glass so air can get to the brush part. Gently make sure the brush is shaped right and let dry at least overnight, maybe longer. They will dry faster in a warm airy room than they would in the bathroom. Don't blow dry.Does anybody know of a good way to wash make up brushes from Bare Escentuals without ruining them.?
FOR MANY YEARS, I HAVE USED MILD DISH SOAP AND WARM WATER, WORKS GREAT.

GOD BLESS YOU AND MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!Does anybody know of a good way to wash make up brushes from Bare Escentuals without ruining them.?
You can use any makeup brush cleaner or to be more cost effective use a facial cleanser. I use neutorogena liquid face wash.
I just wash mine with shampoo and dry with a towel, firm the brush upwards and stand to dry
They sell brush cleaning wipes and shampoos at different places but i just use some gentle hair shampoo( like a color care one or a moisturizing one ) then i reshape and lay on a towel to dry overnight. I also use Bare Essentuals brushes and this works fine for me.
I think they sell products to clean their brushes.
use a mild soap (I use cream or lotion face wash for dry skin) but I've heard moisturizing shampoo also works. Rinse them out really good, reshape them and lay them flat to dry. Be sure to reshape or comb the bristles because if you dont they will dry all wierd and it'll be hard to fix.

They also sell a brush cleaner in spray form that you just spray on and then wipe or buff onto a paper towel.
You don't have to buy those expensive cleaners. Just use your facial soap. If it works well on your face, why wouldn't it work on your brushes? i use mine on my brushes and it works great.
    use baby shampoo

    I hoped this helped =)
shampoos probably the best idea, but use johnson's baby shampoo!
I am not sure, but you should throw out make up that has:

    become dry

you have had for 6 months

Brushes the same thing, throw them out after 6 months, it helps with your skin and breaking out... or the lack there of.
I'm a make-up artist and I have brushes that are over 20 years old that are still in excellent condition that I use several times daily. And yes, I do have some M.A.C. brushes but none are that old...probably the oldest is about 6 years.

I have used Cinema Secrets brush cleaner for as long as I can remember. As soon as I'm through with a brush, I dip it into the cleaner and gently swipe on a soft towel until the brush rubs clean. I then let the brush dry on it's side with the bristles hanging just over the edge of the counter. This ensures that no liquid pools down inside the ferrule, or metal portion, of the brush that holds the bristles together. This is integral to keeping your brush clean AND it's keeping all it's bristles. Once dry I place it back in my brush holder. Once a week I gather all my brushes and gently wash in a solution of warm water and a small amount of gentle baby shampoo. I gently dry, press and shape the bristles with a cloth and, again, let them dry on their sides. Once dry, I will lightly spritz with 99% alcohol and I have beautiful, clean, almost like new brushes again.

Here is the link for the cleaner I use:http://professionalsecrets.stores.yahoo.鈥?/a>

If you treat your brushes well, they'll last a lifetime even when you're using them throughout the day.

    Hope you found this helpful.

    Good luck,

Put a non- cream makeup remover in the sink with some tepid water and let your brushes soak for a while. Rinse well.

    How to wash make-up brushes?

Can I use the shampoo and conditioner I use for my hair? How do I wash it? (Swirl in the sink or rub the hairs with my fingers?) They are MAC brushes by the way and I don't want to use brush cleansers because I don't like spending MONEY!!!!How to wash make-up brushes?
Don't use conditioner, use a very mild shampoo, like johnson %26amp; johnson. I fill a sink with lukewarm water, wet all the brush heads. I put a quarter size amount of shampoo in my hand (or less depending on how many burshes), and swirl each brush in my hand, working the shampoo into it. Rinse under running water, then dip in the still water to reshape the head paritally. Gently squeeze out excess water and reshape the brush head, lay on a towel to let dry overnight. Always dry flat, never let them dry standing up.How to wash make-up brushes?
you have lots of options for washing brushes. i personally use a few methods to keep my brushes clean. i use a spray cleaner daily and a mix-with-water solution every weekend. you can use a mild shampoo like johnson's baby shampoo, or a hand soap like dial if you like.

for quick cleans during the day, i use Brush Off. $14 at sephora. this is a spray that can be applied to any brush that has a powder makeup on it. the spray causes the powder to bead to the top of the bristles, and then you just swipe on a tissue to clean. this is a quick fix only, and not to be used as a substitute for regular washing.

for weekend washing, i use Merle Norman Conditioning Brush Cleaner. $5 at merle norman. this is a liquid that is added to a bowl of warm water, and can clean powders and liquids from bristles. add a capful, and swirl brushes. let sit for 5-10 minutes, then rinse under warm water until water runs clear. make sure to rinse while the brush head is turned down so bristles do not twist. reshape bristles and lay flat. let dry completely before reuse.

both natural and synthetic brushes should be cleaned regularly for optimal performance and sanitation. mac and sephora also offer brush cleaners at about $10. johnson baby shampoo or dial hand soap (the ';gold'; one) can also be used to wash brushes. NEVER use a brush that is not completely dry.
I know! The one for MAC is like $15 bucks, and I get a discount! So...

I made my own brush cleaner... lol

1-Buy one of those 3 oz. clear bottles (Wal-Mart, 50 cents)

2- Fill the bottle with water (1/2 )

3- 1 squeeze of shampoo (preferable baby shampoo/a gentle face cleaner)

4- 1 squeeze of Saline Solution (contact cleaner)

    4- Shake it up...

    You now have brush cleaner...

Lay you brushes flat, squirt the bristles with the solution and with your fingers rub the bristles, going outward. Rinse thoroughly with warm water, then gently squeeze out excess water and reshape the brush head. Lay them flat to dry...

    Good Luck!
im not sure the correct way of doing it but I've washed mine several times.

i use mild soap and warm water and just swirl it around a bit and rub it with my fingers. just let them air dry
Shampoos are great for washing makeup brushes, especially if they're made from natural hair. No need to use the conditioner; it could add extra emollients that would interfere with your makeup application. Also, gel-based facial cleanser is a good choice for cleaning the brushes. It removes makeup from your face, so it's excellent at removing makeup from the brushes. To dry them, wring out the excess water, place them on a towel with the brush end hanging off the counter and let them air dry overnight.
I use a baby shampoo instead of the cleansers, it works and it's cheap.I do massage the brushes with my fingers and squeeze out as much excess water as I can as well. Make sure you dry them with the brushes facing up, this means stand them in a glass or jar with the bristles facing up.
Just use the shampoo, don't need conditioner. Or hand soap.
mabey you should get like after wash hair spray ask a friend for one or your mom. i had this once before and its a pain the butt. and you can use shampoo and conditioner too but get a really good brand. also try using really cold water.
I use my shampoo, but it does have tea tree oil in it which is an anti-fungal.

If you are going to use your shampoo, just be sure to lay them flat to dry.

    (Don't use the conditioner)
Soap and water. Blow them dry with a.. well a blow dryer :)
just soap and water you can also buy brush cleaner i know a good spa avante laser and media spa but its not world wide. only in texas
I use dish detergent liquid like palmolive. It is gentle and you can use it for your hands so it is gentle enough for your brushes and that is what i do i have sensitive skin and i like this technique. I swirl in a bowl and also use my fingers to clean them. Then i rinse them and use my fingers. It works.
wash them with antibacterial soap and hang them upside down to dry..
use luke warm water and a very mild anti bacterial soap. use your fingertips but be gentle with brush. tap the brush against the sink and let it air dry.
Makeup is bad for your skin ,but if you must wear it I think that an antibacterial soap would work fine
